PS: I understand your hesitance. I share your skepticism about Schumer's trustworthiness. I sent him a not very nice letter accusing him of supporting Gonzales because they share an interest in legitimizing torture. But it's not a waste of a dime or a stamp to communicate with your representatives in Congress. It's one of your duties as a citizen. Or, as I say, you can sit on your ass and do nothing. It's a free country.

He's good at one thing and one thing only..grandstanding. You can call, go to his office, beg , plead, you never get a straight answer until after his vote. I've volunteered for many a democratic candidate & sorry he is not one of my favorites. But hey, like I said, it's your time and your dime, do what you think is right.

But when he makes noise like he's going to do the right thing, he needs encouragement. And when he does the wrong thing, he needs to hear about it. Abdication of our responsibility is essentially a blank check with Schumer's name on it to do whatever he pleases.
