5. Anybody worried that the Repubs will . . .
use the "stolen election" stick to wreck Gregoire's term, and to beat up on Dems generally?

18. Of course they will
that was the whole point of their challenge. They knew they couldn't win. Heh, heh, let them try. If worst comes to worst, it will just ensure fairer elections, and then they'll really be screwed.

8. Maybe she could pass a quick law confirming her new title.
Repubs would do that to avoid a contested election.

7. They are taking it to court now
I believe it's being presented Friday in Wenatchee.

It's so hopeful though to see the entire body of WA govt stand and clap for Christine. At least today is happy for her.

10. Despite all the fighting it really was a simple issue.
Gregoire won a close election and was duly sworn today surrounded by a joint session and dignitaries from around the world.

Rossi, apparently, believes he is the governor and will take his place based on an absurd claim of fraud filed in Chelan county.

I wonder how long Rossi will be allowed to roam the streets freely by state Republicans?

14. Nortwest cable news took phone calls
on the matter. Two freep callers turned this old crank: " I'm a life-long Democrat, but I'll never vote 'Democrat' again after this..."

Yeah, you go ahead and do that, Bobby Boloney.

9. What are the recall procedures like in WA?
Because if the Republicans don't succeed in getting a re-vote, you can bet they'll be looking to go that route.

11. Republicans are currently in slash-and-burn
I was watching the local Portland reporting last night, and Washington Republicans are engaging in the most incendiary rhetoric. Remember all that fol-de-rol Democrats said after Bush's ascension, about bipartisanship, doing what's best for the entire nation, avoiding hurtful and divisive rhetoric? Out the window for Washington's Republicans.

There were folks from all over the state yapping about how Gregoire didn't have a mandate, that there was no way to ever tell whether she'd been legitimately elected, and the duty of every citizen on the losing side to fight Gregoire's leadership every step of the way. There was not one conciliatory word, not one concessionary syllable. And the reporter's take on it? Absolute silence. Nothing about how the Republicans being disruptive or disrespectful, nothing about sour grapes. I casually mentioned that the demonstrators for a "do over" vote might have a little more credibility if they'd been saying that when Rossi "won" by 42 votes, but now they have none now that Rossi has officially lost by 129 votes.

Crybabies and sore losers. I just wish the media would present a fair and balanced picture.

15. Frankly, I wish Democrats would be more like them
The folks who vote Republican (blech) at least know that their party is going to fight for everything they can get. Wouldn't it be great if more of our Democratic "leaders" fought like that? I'm so fucking sick of my party rolling over in the interests of 'bipartisanship'!

Even for Rossi who they don't even like very much. It's so disgusting and divisive.

17. I'd like Dems to show a little more fight, too
But every time one of us rears up on our hind legs, the right wing media echo chamber goes into overdrive (or hyperdrive) to squeal about how "shrill" or "unamerican" the Democrats are, and to buttonhole every Democratic guest on every show to denounce the "divisive" and "inflammatory" rhetoric. Cf. Michael Moore, Howard Dean, et al.

I'd like to see the media treat these sorts of things a little more even-handedly: If Michael Moore is bombastic, then go grab a thesaurus for a proper word to describe the Washington Republicans. Instead, Republicans get a clear field while Democrats are hamstrung at every turn.

20. Don't you think that the term LOYAL opposition...
...has been lost on the GOP. They don't want to be loyal they only want power and when they have power they only want to look out for themselves. Our being a LOYAL oppostion makes us better than them but maybe it is also what is killing us.

22. I've said for a long time that we should live by the same rules the (R)'s
set for themselves. If they want to play political hardball, then we need to play political hardball. Politics is not the place to turn the other cheek.

23. Time to say it loud, say it proud: SORE LOSERMAN!
SORE LOSERMAN!

SORE LOSERMAN!

Gimme an "S"...

Gimme an "O"...

Gimme an "R"...

Gimme an "E"...

You get the idea.

A good time to administer a taste of their own medicine. See how they like it.
