Why did I start crying as Matt Santos (West Wing) walked into

that house in New Hampshire and start talking about how he had a few things in his family's history that made him want to revamp the education system, and that if peole didn't like what he had to say, then he would just have to take it??

1. Because you know that he represents the kind of politician we will never
really see any more in this country..an honest one.

2. I was hoping someone else would understand....that's exactly
right. It was a gut reaction, a longing for something we won't have.

4. RobbedVoter...that WAS a thought that flitted across my mind...

I thought of Santos without money, big staff, etc. and I instantly thought of Clark, although he had some money. He had a staff, but not the best. He was really the outsider candidate, as Santos is.

Maybe it will be different, if there's a next time (fingers crossed!)

6. Since you mentioned the West Wing
I am the world's biggest Wing West fan. If you enjoy the show be sure and pick up one of the script books. It has the dialog and the amazing detail that goes into each show. The work the writers and cast do to make it as authentic as possible is just astounding. The writing is perfection, staging unbelievable, cast strong and so very needed during the Bushy White House years. The writing is especially good the first and second years. Sorkin is a master at this and he is missed but seems the new writers are finally getting their legs under them and the story line is improving.

Bartlett has always been played as a real person, warts and all, but still managed to be a decent, honest and caring man who is extremely smart and doesn't mind using his brain. Think that is why the freepers hate West Wing so much - they had much rather had a dumb ass doofus who couldn't find his ass with both hands. BushBot is a guy where they find a soul mate and empathy. Hopefully if Santos wins the presidency and the show continues we will have another character on TV that plays pretending to be a president much better than the actual guy who has been the emperor for the last four years. West Wing should be required viewing for Georgy - he has a lot to learn.

5. Because he represents what we want..and not what we have...
..after Wells took over TWW I was a little worried about how things were going to go, I love the fact that we are seeing how a campaign gets started, the growing pains, the molding of a message and a team, and the belief that what you are doing is not only RIGHT, but makes a difference...

I got the same sort of feeling watching tonight's episode as I did when I first got involved with General Clark's primary campaign. A feeling of optimism and hope. There are dark days ahead of us with Chimpus Augustus in the WH, but he will have to leave in '08, and something tells me his will not be a smooth ride betwixt here and there...

As for the West Wing, it's looking more promising and less dark than of late, and a contentious primary campaign, followed by a spirited Presidential campaign to begin next season and a fond farewell to President Bartlet as Congressman Santos gets sworn in, will be alright in my book...especially with Josh as his Chief of Staff...
