1. Orange is also the color of the Ulster Protestants
I'll pass on that one!

4. You're obviously not Irish
No way will we wear that color.

Besides, I look like hell in orange.

I'll be wearing black, as befits a day of mourning.

6. I'll wear black. But I'd like to see B* & pals in orange prison suits!
Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 12:27 PM by Nothing Without Hope
Black will be more widely understood as a gesture around here. Besides, the Boston area has a lot of Irish, so orange isn't the most popular color to gesture with.

But orange would look just fine as a color scheme for the jumpsuits modeled by B*, Cheney, Rove, Wolfowitz, Perle, Rummy, and so many other lovely neocon stars as they are frog-marched off to well-deserved prison terms. Not on Jan 20 perhaps, but someday PLEASE!

While I'll wear black, maybe I should make a big orange-and-blue round paper insignia to pin on my shirt, with a design and writing on it indicating that this is mourning for democracy lost. THAT would be unambiguous and understood by all. And the colors would give some solidarity with the orange-wearers and the blue-wearers. Hmmm....I'll have to give some thought to a design. If it works well, I can scan it and email it to someone to post on DU so others can use it too.

7. Too many reasons against orange
Besides, orange is a tough color. Not many people have orange in their wardrobe. And I can assure you, I'm not going to go buy something orange.

Black and mourning seems more appropriate.

8. My Irish side detests orange.
Reminds me of the tyranical Orange Order.
