Moveon, Protect Social Security action alert

I think we need a Social Security thread now. Bush is doing another propaganda campaign, even Repugs are nervous on this one. I sent in my comments and will post them separately.

Dear MoveOn member,
Social Security is the crown jewel of progressive government -- a singular achievement that has reshaped what used to be penniless old age. Now George Bush and Republican leaders have made phasing out Social Security as we know it through privatization and massive benefit cuts their top priority for 2005.

4. Can we keep this where it will get seen the most? Its an important
action alert. I don't know about you but I've never gone to the other forum. But an economic forum, or a forum like 'another screwball bush idea' I'd go to.

6. Moving this thread
As you can see, I'm fairly new here. If someone wants to start another Forum and move the posts - or tell me how to do it, that would be great.

I work in the payroll/benefits field and get links to good articles on SS frequently. I'll post them if they are not in the MSM.

went like this,

If the US Government defaults on treasury notes that make up the SS trust fund, are any investments safe in US Government Securities? What happens when risk is introduced to investment in US Government Securities?

It will no longer be the safest investment in the world, obliterating foreign investment in our country. This threatens both the US economy and the global economy. Privatizing Social Security with $16 trillion in borrowed funds to do so, is high risk to our economy and American taxpayers who will surely be the ones defaulted on. Cheating one investor class over another is really the desired result of President Bush and his long time family ties with investment class financial backers.
