Rep. Zoe Lofgren Endorses Dean for DNC Chair
http://www.blogforamerica.com/archives/005793.html

This is quite a long and powerful endorsement, so just a few snips from it.

SNIP.."I met Howard Dean two years ago, as he was starting up his campaign for president. At that time, he was still an unknown former governor of Vermont and in single digits in the polls. I went into that meeting with a fair amount of skepticism.

However, I was immediately impressed with Howard's breadth of knowledge, his passion for Democratic principles, and his ability to articulate his position on any number of issues.

Many of you probably attended Howard's speech to the California Democratic Party in Sacramento in the spring of 2003. It was one of the most impressive political speeches that I have heard. He electrified the room, and moved us all. This speech reminded me of seeing President Kennedy speak at the Cow Palace when I was a young girl. From that moment, I knew Howard was a rare kind of inspirational leader, and someone I wanted to support.

In the past two years, my initial impressions of Howard have only been confirmed. He is a proven leader, and I believe he would make an outstanding Chair of the Democratic National Committee.

There has been a lot of talk about the results of the 2004 elections and what Democrats need to do next. We could spend the next two years debating red states vs. blue states, but that will not put us in a position to win in 2006 and beyond. Instead, we need to move forward to victory.

Howard fits the bill."

SNIP..."Howard speaks so he can be heard. On health care, the economy, social security and foreign affairs, Howard is able to explain his position in a way that is convincing and easy to understand. He is smart and ready to take on the Republicans. Whether he is on Meet the Press, or getting interviewed by a local newspaper, Howard will be a messenger that we can be proud of...."

Zoe's local here, and she's always been a great rep. She was awesome during the impeachment hearings.

6. Tell it, Sisters!
It's a great endorsement, and she's so right. She's pretty impressive in her own right. I like her style -- and commitment.

8. "Howard Fits The Bill"!
"— The DNC Chair must be a proven fundraiser.
— The DNC Chair must be an inspirational leader who will rally our base of supporters.
— The DNC Chair must be an articulate spokesperson for our party and ready to fight for our Democratic ideals.
— The DNC chair must have expertise in managing a large and complex organization.
— The DNC chair must have vision and the ability to utilize new techniques and methods so that we can win both the House and Senate majority less than two years from now."

I would add to this ..

_The DNC Chair must be a diplomat and bring people together.

And Dean does it!

11. My wife and I went to a Dean rally at Zoe's house
She is the real thing! My wife ran into her a few weeks ago at the grocery store. They commiserated about the stolen election. This is in a blue collar area of San Jose, Ca.

How many of you run into your rep in the local grocery store?

Zoe is way too cool.

12. I met Zoe Lofgren
during the recall of Gray Davis in California a while back. I was volunteering for Gray at a Union Hall, working the phone bank, and when I looked over, there was Zoe! She was calling right along with the rest of us shlubs. No one else recognized her, but I introduced myself, and she was down to earth and friendly!
