Michael Regan "Why I'm with my Dad on stem-cell research"
That subject line is from the yahoo photo and caption that lead me to this article.

OMAHA — The eldest son of late President Ronald Reagan says embryonic stem cell research would not have saved his father, who died of Alzheimer's disease last June.

Radio talk-show host Michael Reagan, who spoke at an ethics group's fund-raising dinner here Thursday night, said Alzheimer's disease consumes the entire brain, not just part of it.

The embryonic side is being sold to Americans as an end-all, but it's really a myth," he said.

While important research has been done with adult and blood stem cells for diseases such as leukemia, embryonic stem cells have proved in trials to be dangerous, causing tumors in lab rats and mice, Michael Reagan said.

In an opinion piece published nationally last year, Michael Reagan called the science a "process of manufacturing human beings."

2. A load of bullshit.
First, no one is saying stem cell research is and "end-all"; they're simply saying that it has a lot of potential. No one will know how much potential it has unless they're allowed to try it. It *WILL* save lives, if they give it a chance.

12. A lot of people do talk about embryonic stem cell research as if

it were going to lead to the most important medical research discoveries of all time. It's kind of spooky, the way being pro-choice has led to this attitude that we must chop up all surplus embryos conceived by IVF and use them for research. It's especially spooky that many who are all for human embryonic research are simultaneously opposed to animal experimentation or testing.

3. Then chemotherapy is a process of killing human beings

After all, it does, in the microcosm, kill human cells for the greater good of the organism.

As do stem cells build human cells and organs for the greater good of the organism.

Just hiding his fundy rejectionism behind a facade.

8. Yes
I don't think he is in very good favor with Nancy either that is why he had to elbow his way in front of the camera lenses during the funeral week.

7. Cha-ching! That's more money coming in from Religious Reichists!
I'm certain these kinds of statements are merely fundraisers to get Religious Reichists to contribute to whatever pathetic "commission" Reagan belongs to.

Oh wait! He said this at a fundraiser!
