Bush Says His Brother Likely Won't Run for President

WASHINGTON, Jan. 13 - President Bush says he does not expect his brother Jeb, the governor of Florida, to run for president after he leaves the White House in 2008.

"I don't think he wants to run for president," Mr. Bush told ABC News.

His remarks were made in an interview for the ABC News program "20/20," that is to be shown on Friday. A transcript was released on Thursday.

Governor Bush, who is prohibited by Florida law from seeking a third term, said last October that he would not run for president in 2008, but speculation continued about a potential next chapter in a Bush political dynasty.

6. I think it's because the BFEE promised McCain a free run in '08

in return for McCain strongly backing Bush* last year and campaigning with him and then speaking at the convention. The BFEE figures things will be so messed up in 4 years time that they may as well as run McCain as a patsy next time around and then run Jeb in eight years time. That's my theory anyway.
