Who in the hell is Simon Rosenberg ??
And why haven't I heard of him until the DNC chair opened up? What has he done in the past? Can someone give me a little bit of his history? We don't need the wrong person in the position. Did he say he thought the war was the "right" thing to do?

1. It's my understanding...
...that he's a founder of the DLC/NDN that broke with them several years back. Supposedly, he "gets" it, but is considered "business safe" and less-threatening than other "reform" candidates. I've subscribed to his blog and have been doing some reading, but don't know enough to be definitive. I'd say check his site, and those that discuss him. It's my understanding that yes, he did (and does) support the Iraqi invasion.

8. His break with From came from
His early fascination with the Dean phenomena and refusal to dismiss Dean as a freakshow throwback of the McGovern variety.

And his Hispanic outreach initiatives. The DLC regards explicit appeals to class/race issues a large part of what was killing the party, so what Simon was doing was a Very Bad ThingTM.

3. I think that one is
Roemer. Don't know much, if anything really, about this guy.

6. The fact that we don't know much about this guy
says he's just another name the DLC has thrown out there in a desperate bid to keep dragging the party into total irrelevancy.

They really are desperatelty afraid of Dean. Look at all the milksops they've thrown at us, from Bayh and Vilsack to Roemer and now Rosenberg. Shoot, they even tried to persuade the colossally incompetent McAuliffe to stay on.

Somebody needs to tell them that if they let go gracefully, they may yet salvage their reputations. If they don't, they'll just finish the destruction of the party with the alienation of the party base.

7. Frankly, I have the same reaction with many names in
politics.

They crop up all the time.

But Rosenberg has a good reputation.

11. There's a lot of misinformation on Rosenberg
I like him in almost all respects, but I cannot get over his statement that Iraq "war is a good thing."

This statement has mushroomed on DU, morphing him into a Lieberman type hawk.

Two interesting things should be noted here:

Simon Rosenberg is NOT Jewish.

Simon Rosenberg gave Media Matters much of its financial start-up money.

Plenty more information here.
