Just like in Biblical times, they now fall down and worship the golden calf of the "free marketplace". It is "government" that is evil and it is the evil spawn of government, such as Social Security, that must be rescued from its evil clutches. Only the "market" can save us. We put all our abiding faith into its every utterance and working. Blind faith, in the unforeseen, is better to them than works that have been proven over time. False prophets have filled their heads with lies and falsehoods and they fall down in awe at the bright glow of the golden calf...

If I remember correctly the storyline was similar. Moses takes off to the mountain and hangs out with a Burning Bush. Meanwhile the natives get bored, tired of waiting for Moses to come down, made a big gold veal and danced about.

Here we have been burned by Bush, the natives can't wait for Jesus to come back, so they blow all our resources in one golden bullshit party.
