The Voice of the White House from TBR News
http://www.tbrnews.org/

Does anybody know whether this is genuine, written by somebody in the know?

The Voice of the White House

January 12, 2005: “Several interesting items, one only amusing and the other serious. The Bush people have received so many very serious death threats aimed at Our Beloved Leader that they might as well put a dummy in the Presidential limo on inauguration day. No one will talk about the volume and apparent seriousness of these ongoing threats and neither will they talk about the ACTUAL DEATH TOLLS IN IRAQ! You have been posting only the official figures which are not accurate. These OFFICIAL figures indicate about 1,400 are dead and perhaps 4,000 wounded. Actually, and I have seen the figures from the Pentagon, over 8,000 are dead and over 15,000 are wounded, some maimed for life…blind, missing legs and arms or with the prospect of spending the rest of their young lives confined to a wheelchair in a Vets hospital with a permanent piss bag tied to a leg. This is the greatest secret and holds the greatest fear for the Bush people. If the public ever finds out the truth, they will lynch him and his fascist co-workers in about ten minutes. Already, parents are wondering why their son’s name is not on official lists and this number is growing every day. This is the real reason why Bush forbade any pictures being taken of arriving caskets at Dover. All even an idiot would have to do would be to count the daily supermarket checkout and the rat would be out of the bag. This nasty business has real legs and even the dullard Bush is terrified. Rigid censorship has been clamped down by the Pentagon on any information and especially the following truly horrible news: The Arabs have captured a number of GIs and have tortured them terribly before chopping of their heads which they defile by dumping into a well-used latrine. Their statements are that since the US under Bush has ignored the Geneva Treaty and tortured prisoners of war and executed a number of them plus God knows how many unarmed civilians, they will kill every GI they capture. Beheaded and terribly mutilated bodies are quickly grabbed by special teams of GI undertakers, hidden away and sent home in sealed caskets or cremated in a large oven in downtown Baghdad. (Shade of Auschwitz!) This is one of the reasons why there are so many suicides and so many desertions among the terrified troops. This really awful business is a top priority secret but I will make the shits happy by letting it out and if I can get the actual figures, I will give them to you, names and all, to post alongside the official lies. Why don’t you ask survivors to send you the names of their lost sons and husbands and then check them against the Pentagon Lie List? Better, publish the entire roster of Official Dead and ask anyone whose relatives, sons or husbands are not on it to contact you. You are in the position of doing all of us a great favor if you do.”

1. I don't know what to think.
I read that last night and have been mulling it over since.

2. It reads like a sequel
to their insider memo series from a "major media news organization." I wouldn't bet against 500-1 odds that it's fiction.

3. Like it or not ... this jives with reports coming in from overseas.
And, I've been thinking about it too since I read it. I cannot shake the feeling that it is true.

15. You know it is true, to some extent, because ..
1) they do not count in the statistic all of those kids we promised citizenship to if they survived their tour (e.g. Mexican citizen), and,
(2) they do not count you in the statistic is you die in a 'humvee accident,' or while in the hospital undergoing treatment, or while in transport.

Everyone here knows, in their gut, that the number is much higher. How high only they know. And I wouldn't count on families speaking out; they are probably threatened, at the very least with losing benefits.

4. I've been following these 'leaks' too....
It seems fishy, but it's also very believable.

I'm not sure if this is some nice bait with an ugly hook, or if it's a real story bursting at the seams.

My personal thoughts are that this is NOT a WH insider, if for no other reason than if this were REAL, Rove's minions would move heaven and earth and scour every broom closet to find this guy... and put a stop to it.

I know I would.

5. That's an awful large number of
families whose loved ones names wouldn't be on the lists. How could they realistically hide that many? They have to talk and add things up. Just gives me a sick feeling to think about, I hope it isn't true.

6. I have read this thing too and can't figure out if these posts are fact or
fiction but I'm wondering since DU is such a large community could we try the test suggested?

7. found this....
http://www.the7thfire.com/new_world_order/analysis_of_the_voice_of_the-.htm

It goes about debunking one of the VOTWH articles.

I'd still try that suggested test if no one can find any drawbacks to it.

8. Didn't this happen with the Soviets in Afghanistan?
Mothers of the dead getting together and comparing notes and coming up with totals that were far higher than the offical figures?

TBR isn't exactly reliable -- I had them bookmarked and then took them off again because of that -- but in this case, I've seen too many different indications that something isn't kosher not to be suspicious.

9. I think it's fake
Edited on Sun Jan-16-05 01:27 AM by TexasLawyer
I've been reading the Voice of the White House and have seen all the reports. I don't think he's (she's/ they're) for real. Just an intuition. There's too much "Oh they are going so crazy in the monkey palace trying to figure out who I am!" Also, there are predictions that have not come true.

And in one report the Voice says that he/she overheard Karl Rove screaming that he was going to get a person who had publicly disagreed with Bush and "f#$@ him like he's never been f*&^%#d before." But that was a conversation that had been reported by Ron Suskind in an Esquire article two years ago.

"Inside, Rove was talking to an aide about some political stratagem in some state that had gone awry and a political operative who had displeased him. I paid it no mind and reviewed a jotted list of questions I hoped to ask. But after a moment, it was like ignoring a tornado flinging parked cars. "We will f**k him. Do you hear me? We will f**k him. We will ruin him. Like no one has ever f**ked him!" As a reporter, you get around—curse words, anger, passionate intensity are not notable events—but the ferocity, the bellicosity, the violent imputations were, well, shocking. This went on without a break for a minute or two. Then the aide slipped out looking a bit ashen, and Rove, his face ruddy from the exertions of the past few moments, looked at me and smiled a gentle, Clarence-the-Angel smile."

So I'm skeptical. Maybe the Voice is just a person in Des Moines who keeps up on current events, who keeps up with the latest Washington gossip, who adds a few fabricated details here and there to give the stories some depth, and then sends them out like they're the real thing. That's just my gut feeling from reading the Voice installments..

10. What the Voice is saying, though
might bear looking in to. This administration has lied about everything else. I wouldn't put it past them to lie about the U.S. death tolls in Iraq and Afganistan.

12. Oh, my god, I hope this is not true
Even though it would take Bush down, I can't stand the thought of this happening to young people and then them not even getting the recognition of having their name on the list and a decent burial at home.

This makes me nauseous.

13. It's fiction and satire

If you follow that column, it's a clever satire on both sides. Essentially, the writer takes the extreme (selfcongratulatory and paranoid) fiction muttering about on the Democratic side and pretends it's true. That tickles the Democratic true believers. As for Republican readers, it does portray the White House as a scandalous place- but imbued with far more immense power and treachery and cunning than previously imagined, so that tickles them in being happy about being 'let in' too.

It's great bait to get new readers into reading, the switch part being getting them into subscribing and taking the publication (sic) as a serious source.
