Bush says Williams wrong to take money
http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/news/politics/10657454.htm
By LAUREN MARKOE -- Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON — President Bush this week said that radio commentator Armstrong Williams was right to fault himself for taking $240,000 to promote No Child Left Behind, the centerpiece of Bush’s education policy.

But Bush found no fault with his Education Department, which suggested the arrangement and paid Williams the money.

“I appreciated him being forthcoming about the fact that he thought he was wrong to take the money and do what he did,” Bush told reporters.

4. The most sickening thing is how...
Bush supporters - those people who actually voted for this man and hiscruddy crew - can actually accept this wrong-doing with never a twinge of guilt yet they can lambast Clinton eternally for a private act. Can we list the lies told by the Bush administration side by side with those of the Clinton administration? I know which side would be most heavily weighted.

5. Again, the logic is illogical. I cannot believe we have done this to
ourselves and our country. This bad dream will not end. It blew me away last week to hear that while Iraq did not have WMD, they had the ability to make them. Kind of like throwing somebody in jail as a terrorist. If later they are determined not, in fact, to be a terrorist, certainly they had the ability to be one, right?

14. But does he say that it was wrong for him to offer Armstrong the $?
What an excellent example of the buck not stopping here!

Bush gave him that money, but it was wrong of Armstrong Williams to accept it.

And who in the world is going to reject an offer of 240k from the Fed gov't! If they're giving you money, I think you're going to presume that it's legal. They are the goverment, after all.

18. But the only reason Williams agrees with him is because Williams
thinks there will be some sort of private financiall reward for "agreeing."

If not for the private financial reward, Williams might just say the truth about Republican policies, which is that they don't work.

to take a bribe? Does that mean that people who offer to sell drugs are also not at fault?
