2008 is shaping up to be one huge race
I know that predicting the presidential election 4 years away is impossible. But, if all the rumors are true, the primaries are going to be battles of epic proportions

Republicans:
Bill Frist
Newt Gingrich
Jeb Bush
Rick Santorum

Democrats:
Hillary Clinton
John Kerry
Howard Dean (If he doesn't become DNC Chair)
Al Gore
Wes Clark

Any other names being mentioned

If he skips running in 2006 against Allen, then IMHO he is running for pres.

8. historically, people NEVER talk about the next election this early
shrub hasn't even been sworn in for his second 4 years :puke: yet, and already BOTH parties are jockeying for position for 2008.

this means that shrub's period of lame-duckness will be even longer than most two-termers. hell, he may ALREADY be a lame duck, witness to struggle he's facing with the social security crap. his party is NOT 100% behind it. quite a number of banana republicans are worried. they know shrub will never face an electorate again, but they will.

if shrub doesn't get a significant victory out of the social security crap, then he becomes fairly irrelevant. that's not entirely a good thing, though, it means that the next four years will likely see a level of corruption that will put grant's second term to shame.

plus, it gives the banana republicans that much more time to solidify behind their next puppet leader.

10. Interesting point
I wonder if we hype the 2008 election early if we purposefully increase the amount of time Bush will be a lame duck?

12. well, the key point is that the banana republicans are talking about 2008
if it were only the democrats talking about 2008 but the banana republicans were strongly united in their "mandate" and agenda for the next four years, shrub would remain relevant longer.

but now, banana republicans will be more eager to do favors for frist or whoever they expect to be the next nominee.
