Evelyn Hicks of Gainesville, Fla., is the reason Kerry lost
In the Associated Press pre-inaugural poll was this gem near the bottom. What can you say about this? They must all think the same way Bush does.

These times are probably the most stressful and insecure times in this country’s history,” said Evelyn Hicks, a Republican from Gainesville, Fla. “But I’m confident with my president. He’s genuine and has convictions. He’s not intimidated into trying to say the right things.

Is that why he's so good at saying the wrong things?
'Bring it on', indeed.

4. You said it. These Repubs are dumb as a doorknob. But that's what
happens when you hide the caskets from the public's viewing.

7. Some might blame the amoral robots who took a paycheck --
-- from Diebold and others to rig machines in New Mexico, Ohio, and other states.

(I hear the point of the post, but I would love to see some investigation and accountability in the counting software Diebold et al foisted upon the electorate.)

8. Evelyn Hicks is a moran, but when she said "right things", she probably

10. Wrong.
This person is clearly not a swing voter. She even identifies herself as a Republican. She sounds like part of Bush's base, not someone the Democratic candidate could potentially win over. If Kerry had managed to win this woman's vote, then he probably would have lost many votes on the left to Nader, or to people writing in Kucinich or Dean.

As an aside, this woman makes referance to something that really interests me, which is people's apparent tendency to think that they live in the most (insert adjective here) times in history. "These times are probably the most stressful and insecure times in this country's history",said Evelyn...

WRONG!!! How about the election of 1860? Was that not stressful and insecure? Or the War of 1812, when Washington D.C. was burned to the ground by an invading army? Or even the Cold War, which this woman undoubtedly lived through at least in part.... the threat of nuclear annhilation... Man, people need to read a book. While terrorism is indeed a grave threat, this is not the worst of times.
