MSNBC: "Americans hopeful on Bush's new term, cautious about Iraq"

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6833513/

WASHINGTON - A majority of Americans say they feel hopeful about President Bush’s second term, but those hopes are clouded by doubts about when the bloodshed in Iraq will end.

People say Iraq should be the president’s highest priority, according to an Associated Press poll that found that those surveyed are not optimistic a stable government will take hold there.

After winning re-election, Bush is preparing to pursue an ambitious agenda that includes efforts to change Social Security, federal tax laws and medical malpractice awards.

Ahead of Bush’s inauguration on Thursday, 60 percent of those asked said they were hopeful, compared to 39 percent who said they were not. Asked whether they were worried, 47 percent said yes and 53 percent said no. Most said they were neither angry nor excited about his final four years in office.

1. 60%??? Where did they go to poll, the RNC headquarters? If this crap
didn't affect me, I could almost enjoy sitting back and watching them reap what they're sowing.

2. consider that many americans aren't very thoughtful.
we'll give millions{billions?} for tsunami relief -- shake our heads and feel real pain.

but think nothing of the dead children, women, grandparents, etc in iraq -- just a vague sense of unease.
and these are deaths that could have been{justifiably so} prevented.

and that's a very simpified picture -- i.e. the aids epidemic in africa is probably much worse that the tsunami in the long haul -- and we do a GREAT job of ignoring that.
the list goes on -- including our own ingrained battle with poverty and homelessness.

so i can see this ''survey'' coming close to a kind of truth.

4. There couldn't possibly be that many brain dead Americans.
I can understand how rich people could feel hopeful about their assets. However, even they, if they will look at the situation for the long term will see that in the end ALL WILL LOSE as a result of Bush's tenure in office.
