Writing letters to undecided voters...
How helpful is it? Do people throw them away? Do they actually help sway undecideds? Is it too late to write to people in NH? Will they even get them now?

1. the letters will get there
and they make a difference. My sister in Iowa got a letter from soembody in Washington state, that really got her intereted in Dean. I think she went for Edwards in the caucus, but the letter really moved her towards Dean.

I sent out ten today, and will do ten tomorrow. After Thursday, I think it will be too late.

But of course, you can always right to South Carolina.

3. At the risk of giving advice and encouragement to the oppostion
I wrote (email) to several undecided voters whose letters to the editor I read online. Knowing what their concerns were in advance gave me a topic for my letters. I don't know how big a factor it was but I did have one person who wrote me saying that it helped confirm his decision to back my guy.

One thing -- I certainly don't see how it could hurt.

GO DEMS!

4. I could imagine letters being
acceptable, perhaps helpful. But, I would stay away from volunteer phone bank operations -- I suspect that most people feel the same way about these as they do any 'other' telemarketers!

6. I love to phone bank. Lots of people like talking about politics.
You get throught to maybe one person in 6-10 these days thanks to caller ID. But I've only ever had one person snap at me, and even the people who don't like your candidate are funny when they tell you abou it. EVERYONE likes to share their opinions. And that's all your asking them for. (Not everyone likes to give away their money.)

5. I think they do.
I haven't personally recieved any responses from my letters..

But, I've seen examples of grateful responses that others have recieved from the people they wrote letters to..so I think that they do make a difference. :)
