Insurance.

Last year I made $100,000/year, health insurance cost $3600/year and my copay on drugs was $10/prescription.

I just retired. My pension is $36,000/year, health insurance is $8760/year and my copay on drugs is $35/prescription.

Does this make any sense?

1. They probably didn't profit enough from you on drugs,

Now , you're getting older, and presumably(not hopefully), you will need more meds.

5. It just seems backwards. They have all the money from everyone
else in the company I worked for. But retired people get screwed.

4. Sounds like you dislike having an employer pay more than slave wages
In your other posts, you blame Bush's bad on Clinton. In Iraq you blame all the horror and terror we caused on the Iraqis themselves.

Now you imply that people should work for slave wages, health benefits be damned.

"Alert" DUers aren't buying the act.

7. I stayed put in the same company for 31 years so I wouldn't
have to worry. I retired at 55. Not bad. I'm now doing other things--started 2 businesses, so I wouldn't say I'm completely retired, but I worked in order to be in this position as soon as I could.

6. I know the feeling
I retired on disability, through Railroad Retirement 3 years ago.

I used to make 80k per year and had free insurance w/20 dollar co-pay for doctor, and 10 dollars for prescriptions.

Now I make about 45k per year, I'm on my third insurance company in 12 months. It was 500 dollars per month, but now it's free again, but has high deductibles and co-pays.

9. Other industrialized countries have free health care. Of course
they pay more taxes. I don't know what the answer is, but I'm sick of our way.

8. Multinationals are literally trying to kill you
by accelarating your trip into the poorhouse. If they can't get away with outright murder, they'll use the roundabout route: starve'em and price'em out of the health care system.
