Howard Dean for 2008! Why? Lemme tell ya...
First off, the Democratic Party can't win a Presidential election if its very livelihood depeneded on it. If you want proof, look at the past two elections. You can tell me Bush stole them both, but if Gore had just taken a few more votes in Tennessee, none of us would have ever heard of Florida. And Kerry got too fuzzy-headed for a lot of swing voters last year.

We need a candidate that can inspire people, energize them, get them to believe that by voting for this candidate they are actually serving some higher cause. Howard Dean was just such a man in the 2004 race, and it was only because of the behind-the-scenes Machiavellian maneuverings of a 527 that Dean was torpedoed in Iowa and New Hampshire, forcing Dean to blow his entire war chest, fire Joe Trippi, and watch his campaign self-destruct.

Also, Dean boldy goes where angels fear to tread. How many others were willing to say that America is no safer with Saddam Hussein behind bars? I admire his candor.

We need to re-energize the Democratic Party from the ground up, and I'm convinced we can only do it with an infusion of new blood, not another round of "more of the same." That's why I support Dean for chair of the DNC and President of these United States in 2008.

1. Dr. Dean, quite rightly, has said if he is elected DNC Chair
he will not be a candidate for the presidency in 2008. However, if he does a good job rebuilding the party he could be a potential vice presidential nominee if the nominee looks in that direction.

2. I would vote for Dean in a hot minute.
The truth is that even if you don't like Dean, the Democrats don't have any other viable candidates to field. Honestly. About the only other person they have in their ranks that could take a decent crack at 2008 would be Edwards (yeah, Edwards), and that would be assuming he could "pull a Clinton".

But personally, at this point, I'm not sure I have any faith in the DNC machine to do anything but run as Republican Lite and fail in the process. I think Dean would have a damn good shot of winning, because he pulls from the Democrats' normal voting base, from the disillusioned progressives that don't vote because they hate Republican Lite candidates, and from the "simple values" folks that screwed us so badly in 2004.

Of course, there are people who will cry out that it's hopeless and we'll lose with Dean or anyone else. Okay, fine. Whatever. Then why not lose with an actual fucking LIBERAL for a change? We might as well try. It hasn't been done in quite some time by the Democrats.

3. Howard Dean brought me back to the Democratic Party
In recent years I lost interest in politics. Clinton excited me in '92 election. I voted for Kerry this last election, but I also saw him as unable to fight back the republicans - I knew his 'gentlemanly' style stood no chance against a republican congress and chorus of right-wing talk show hacks.

Democrats need a very strong, well defined candidate.

5. Not only
were no others willing to say that America is no safer with Saddam Hussein behind bars they hammered Dr. Dean for saying it.

I'm really tired of "more of the same" and I will not support a Repug-lite party.

6. Not to mention that he learned some very good lessons on how
the other side fights. Unlike some, I think he can learn from the past. I only wish he was a little more progressive.
