1. "Welcome to the world of oaths and testimony and Congressional hearings."
That's how he started, for those of you who can't watch or hear.

Yes, my dear, you're UNDER OATH. I hope the best is made of it.

4. I know I am gonna get slagged for this one but what the heck
The problem with most of the democratic politicians like Sen.Kerry is that they are often only good with words but lack the courage and conviction to act on it. This is why Democratis party is not a trusted party when it comes to our National Security issues. They are busy formulating words that are eloquent in manner that are appealing to folks of education and sophistication but does not connect with the majority of Americans.

9. You've been slagged!
By the way, what the heck does slag mean? I couldn't think of how to write a "sound effect" above that would go with "slag".

You are right that we could do with some more "plain-speaking." However, Kerry just did a great job questionning Rice: Opening statement was great, he cut her off when she was blathering on about types of terrorists instead of answering his question, etc. Main point is to get out the word that Rice, Bush and others deceived the American people. Things are so bad now in Iraq, even Americans brainwashed by Fox News and Bush admin truth-twisting may notice something's wrong... Don't you agree?

10. Consider yourself slagged.
Yes, Kerry is good with words-he's downright intelligent, something we sadly lack in a leader. But he also just got back from a 2-week trip to Iraq and Europe, trying to get a true picture of what's going on over there. And when was the last time * was there? Hell, he's afraid to go outside of his residence w/o vast amounts of security because he is so despised.

nothing for this nation.

Too bad the media schooled you. If you used books and real news you would know that Kerry was years ahead of most everybody on the terror issue. He wrote a book about the funding of international terrorism in 96 called The New War.

Too bad Republicans were busy protecting their international financier cronies who were neckdeep in the funding of terrorism and those traitors ignored Kerry's warnings and the legislation he wrote to track the funding of terrorists.

Too bad that the media didn't tell people that while John Kerry was shutting down terrorists' banks, George Bush and his cronies were making deals with them.

Don't worry the fix is in. If he had a chance to vote FOR the war again, he'd do that too.

17. I am not blaming the whole thing on Sen.Kerry
What I was trying to point out was that most Democratic politicians lacked a coherent, concise message that our fellow Americans can understand. Look when Kerry speaks with his nuance style or any other Democrats we can discern it,fully comprehend it and able to grasp the core message of every topic they discuss. As much as some of you loathed the south and its inhabitants that are for God and guns they are still part of our great country.
We can not say with full confidence that we alone know what is best for our country. So people who have different beliefs(mostly evangelical Christians) on different set of topics are just plain dumb, radical or ignoramus. If we behave that we are better than them then I think we are mistaken, for the other side already has already taken up that mantle as the Party of the righteous and virtous.
I believe that if we truly believe in our ideals we must convey it towards our perceived enemies more effectively with less name calling and labelling like what we are doing now to one another is truly sad IMHO.

believe a verb/a question wasn't coming already. This was the Rice hearing - not the Kerry SOTU. A question was the point - hopefully a confrontational one.
Sorry if I care more about democracy than any one dude.

19. I've got to agree with you, JR
Dems need to better frame their message. A party that isn't in power can't just criticize, they must propose. I'd like Dems to come up with a "10-point plan", containing a specific, concrete set of proposals. I also agree with you 100% about not calling Bush voters (including evangelicals) names: This just plays into the divisive tactics utilized by the Republicans to turn voters against us Dems. (Also agree with you about trying to achieve a greater level of civility here on DU -- it's hard sometimes because I know just for myself that I have very strong feelings, am very frustrated by what's going on in the country. etc.)

I'm fairly new here at DU myself, but what the heck, let me say welcome to DU.

P.S. Have you written any e-mails in support of Boxer to the media. I'm on a crusade (oops, poor choice of words) to get people to drop a few lines to CNN and MSNBC. Below is a link to a post I wrote earlier that give links to CNN and MSNBC:

If you visit, would you mind giving the post a kick? (That means replying to my post by writing "kick" in the subject heading -- it kicks the post up higher on the lsit so people see it)
