Hey, Reuters paints a nice little one-sided view of Boxer VS. Rice
Very carefully constructed "journalism," with Boxer breaking the soothing, peaceful "Let's-All-Kiss-Condi's-Ass" tone set by Joe Biden (an "otherwise generally cordial hearing"), and a strong, unshaken Condi boldly defending her honor.

Of course, anyone within earshot of CSPAN this morning knows that's total CRAP. But then again, we didn't expect praise of Boxer in the media, so we got what we expected...again.

:grr:

"Rice Defends Her Integrity in Clash Over Iraq"

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&u=/nm/20050118/pl_nm/bush_rice_dc_17

Rice, whose confirmation as the first black woman secretary of state is all but assured in the Republican-led Senate, said she believed the White House sent enough U.S. troops to Iraq despite the raging insurgency that erupted after the invasion.

In a heated exchange in an otherwise generally cordial hearing, California Democrat Sen. Barbara Boxer (news, bio, voting record) argued the Bush administration had shifted its justification for the war because it had failed to find stocks of biological and chemical weapons it had asserted were there.

"You sent them in there because of weapons of mass destruction. Later the mission changed when there were none," Boxer told Rice. "Let's not rewrite history, it's too soon to do that."

"It wasn't just weapons of mass destruction," Rice told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, saying former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) supported terrorism, attacked Kuwait and Israel and needed to be removed given the new U.S. threat perception after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington. "We can have this discussion in any way that you would like, but I really hope that you will refrain from impugning my integrity," Rice told Boxer. "I really hope that you will not imply that I take the truth lightly."

1. "Takes the truth lightly"?

Like everyone else in this reality-challenged administration, she wouldn't know the truth if it bit her on the arse.

2. I noticed

the reporter left out this part where Boxer pointed out to Condi the liar that what they 'the Senate' not her voted on was WMD (PERIOD) <----Boxer's emphasis for going to war against Iraq.

3. Somebody tell Condi the difference between "imply" and "infer."
Boxer did not "imply" Condi is a ratfaced liar. That would mean that Boxer meant to assert, indirectly, that opinion.

Instead, Boxer stated facts from which a reasonable person would infer Condi is a ratfaced liar.

Boxer noted that Condi has stated many things that aren't true. What Condi wants for everyone to have a lobotomy so that we do not infer, as any shithead would, that she is lying at least some of the time and just plain mistaken all the rest.

In sum, Condi pretends Boxer is insulting her, when all Boxer does is state the distance between the truth and Bushworld, and if Condi is embarrassed by that, well, that's the best thing that one can say about Rice.

5. So she honestly thinks that the right thing to do in the middle of
the War on Terror was to take time out to "free the Iraqis" while spending hundreds of billions of dollars, soiling our good name, and tying up hundreds of thousands of troops?

She thinks THAT?
