I'm so proud of Kerry
He's just so smart and eloquent. Without being like, obviously on the attack, he's totally putting it to Condi.

There's nothing constructive in this post, I'm just so sad that he's not president, but hopeful that he'll stay fighting as a senator.

1. When he was questioning things she had written,
her responses were something like, "Well, that is what I wrote, but not what I meant. Let me explain what I really meant."

Her voice was quavering again, too.

He did a fine job.

2. Finally a rational response to Kerry's efforts.
Kerry could cure cancer and some here would find a way to criticize him.

14. Agreed - I was pleased to hear some of the points being brought ...
out today. Pleased, hell - I let a few yells go! Not to good to do at work. The Dems may not have the votes to block some of these criminals, but they are still airing some of their laundry in public. Kerry is STILL my choice!

3. I am also very sad that he is not our president.
Watching him and Senators Boxer, Dodd, et. al. give me hope that the legislative branch will live up to their jobs of truly representing the people. The * regime will only be a monarchy if our legislatures lay down and let them. Hell even some of the Repukes gave me a little hope. I am very sure it will be short lived. But.... today I will choose to hold onto the small thread of hope that Congress will wake up and work for us. I know many here have written Senator Kerry off, but to me.... I am choosing to believe that his disappointment in not becoming president is in part a feeling that he let us down... like he wasn't able to save us. Maybe now he is taking a more assertive role and doing what he can as a Senator to try and protect us from the * regime.
One can only hope.....

5. So why do they all say they are going to approve her nomination?
Edited on Tue Jan-18-05 08:09 PM by higher class
It's going to be up to the nations of the world to rebutt her? Maybe they won't receive her...nah, they are all too polite.

At least England refused two state visits by Bush.

8. the thought that I have that currently makes any sense to
me right now is that there are so many things that * needs to be checked on, that maybe this is one that they see as being able to manage better than other issues. If they oppose him on everything, the pundits will just start the blitz of propaganda that the Dems are simply using partisan politics to undermine our Country, being unpatriotic, etc. etc. I am just holding faith that they have more insight than I and will know which fight to pick that will make a difference. Please don't get me wrong.... I am against Condi being SOS and AG as AG. But, I am more frightened by the possible SC Justices that may be elected and the SS privatization, the merging of Church and State, possible endless wars, the ignorance for science and environmental responsibility, the continued assault on the lower and middle classes.... I am only hoping they feel they can counter or manage any damage those two can do and see bigger issues to use their now limited numbers to make a difference. Please don't attack - this is only my opinion.

19. I won't attack. I think you're right. But, I'm always the one who tries
to figure out how something gets done...how do the Dems talk to each other to make decisions about which fights to pick....they have to worry about bugs in the setting and leaks after the fact that could erase any plan - I don't see how they could all meet - all of them can't be trusted (without naming names).

So, I'm not sure that they are even a cohesive and complete group who could meet. I know they have made deals with the Repubs, but I am growing very skeptical and resentful of these deals.

I excused it or found rationalizations for it for years when Daschle was the go-between. I always thought I could see what they were doing or thought they knew what they were doing.

I wiped my trust slate clean and only want to believe in the ones with guts.

There is a litmus test I use:
Did the person vote for the Iraq invasion (disguised as permission to obtain permission from the rest of the world)?
Did the person vote for the Patriot Act?
Did the person vote for John Ashcroft?
Did the person know about PNAC before they were all in place?
and the new one is...
Is anyone going to stand up and tell everyone that the election was a theft (besides Boxer and those in the House)?

We are in such a mess - I hardly trust any of our Dem leaders.

We are in desparate times for all the reasons you mention.

They would probably want to continue in their old compromising ways and I (we?) want them to save us and there are too many of them who don't want to be heros and heroines.

22. You have obviously followed politics longer than I
I am a relative new comer. If I had held out hope for 4 years and been constantly disappointed, trumped with the incomprehensible * win, I would probably feel the same. For now, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Let's hope they hold my and restore your faith. Let's also remind our friends to continue the e-mails, letters and phone calls to our elected reps. I know many feel this is in vain, but I think the right did and does this on many issues. We need to remind our reps that we also have a voice, a pocket book and a vote (most of the time).

what he did today. I thought he did an excellent job.

It doesn't ALL have to be fireworks, folks. Look a little deeper.

Very effective. Especially when combined with unwavering determination.
That's his style.

His focus and recall is impressive too.

10. republicans are ALWAYS on the attack. They just robbed him of his
victory. What's so great about "without being, like, obviously on the attack?
The woman is a criminal with blood of many on her hands. Who would justify an actual attack from Kerry?

25. Theres a difference
between being on the attack and being obviously on the attack. I would say Kerry was definatly on the attack today, but it seems like unless he just stands there and screams at Condi some people are gonna say he was a doormat.

11. Did a good job of both attacking her and trying to understand her
and get her to understand where he was coming from. I don't think it will work with someone as dense as Condi though but we can hope.

23. he was the prosecutor today, wasn't he?
Focused like a lazer beam. And a steely kind of anger, or outrage under the surface--not personal, but over the incompetence and failure he was seeing.

Your post is very constuctive. You have kept faith in JK, as I have, since before the election. He's so smart, so decent, and very effective. He will fight for us, you can take that to the bank.
