Condi on Torture (in a nutshell)
(in other words, there's humans, and then there's subhumans)

SEN. BOXER: No, no, you're -- you're missing -- you're not listening to the question. You said you don't want to extend these international laws to all prisoners. However, it is extended in the defense bill. And this was just extending it to the intelligence officers. Now you're -- so that's why I'm asking you, since you said you can't extend it, do you support it in the defense bill? Whether the president signed it, I'm asking your opinion.

MS. RICE: Of course I support it in the defense bill, Senator.

SEN. BOXER: But you've gone in the intelligence bills and --

MS. RICE: No. Senator, we think the intelligence are covered in the defense bill. It was unnecessary to have it in your bill.

SEN. BOXER: But then you go to say that these -- that these agreements are not covered.

MS. RICE: I was making -- I was making a broader point, Senator, which is that the Geneva Conventions should not be extended to those who don't live up to the obligations of the Geneva Convention

1. Condi was deninately intimidated by the Dems.
It was great to see John Kerry hammer Condi Rice, the same way he hammered "Wimp Boy" George Bush during the campaign. Rice was obviously intimidated by the Dems, particularly Kerry, Boxer and Biden.

2. This is a good moment for Democrats
This is good to see that we are hitting this issue harder nowdays. Torture seems to be OK if EVERYBODY violates the Geneva Convention. Logic like this is reserved to people who make no effort to support peace. After all, how can we "save" the Iraqis if we act just like Saddam Hussein?

Saddam Hussein tortured and killed hundreds of thousands of people. How can we justify ANY war if we just put out more of the same (remember the Kerry quote?)?

3. So I guess that means that our Soldiers are no longer protected
by the Geneva Convention, right?

That is what people don't get. If we are seen treating people like this, then how should we expect our soldiers to be treated if they are captured? That is one of the worst aspects.

4. "good for the goose, good for the gander"
I don't believe she has any understanding of human nature, or else for her it is "irrelevant".

5. Finally
I've been saying this since the first reports of abuse were made public.

What are these neocons thinking?

What goes around comes around. Count on it.

6. The Self-Fulfilling Prophecy
Now, when our soldiers wind up being "abused," the NeoCons will point and say, "See! We were right not to show them any mercy! Look at what bastards THEY are!!"

Hasn't this already happened? First, we claimed we didn't torture prisoners. When it was no longer deniable, we said, "Well, it's for a good cause. Besides...9-11!" Now we have a defense attorney likening it to cheerleader practice.

The NeoCons don't give a crap about the soldiers--only about what they can be used for.
