Question about Kerry and Gephardt? |
|
I saw on a couple of threads today and can't find them again that Kerry and Gephardt joined together in Iowa, which I didn't know, as did Edwards and Kucinich, which we all knew. But in the Kerry-Gephardt case, it was described as teaming up to slow Dean down in particular. I haven't heard any analysis on this point. Does anybody know what exactly happened and how? Has Gephardt thrown his support to Kerry?

1. What would Kucinich/Edwards be? |
|
Says alot to me that Kucinich went to Edwards instead of Dean. Either one of them could have given Kucinich extra delegates so Kucinich could be represented. He went to Edwards.

3. He did go to Edwards and I thought it was interesting |
|
My hit on it was a matter of who he felt he could trust, but I really don't know and slowing Dean was probably in there. Do you have thoughts on what's being said regarding Gep and Kerry. I'm just being nosy here.

2. I alerted on a post with that rumor |
|
the same post also stated that Kerry was push-polling the wife-beater story.
Neither rumor was substantiated, which I thought was against the new rules.

4. Sorry, I didn't know there was an alert |
|
That's probably why I couldn't find it again.

14. I know you're not trying to spread this story |
|
the original thread WAS very obviously spreading the rumors, it was asserting them as facts. It was pretty sad, a totally unnecessary reaction to Dean's defeat yesterday.

15. ABC had a pathetic story about Dean |
|
it was truly shameful, it tried to imply Dean condoned his security person's wife beating.
But this person today on DU said that Kerry was behind the story, without backing it up, and I found that an equally pathetic smear against Kerry.

6. Nah. I watched actual caucuses on C-Span. |
|
The whole thing. A large caucus and a small one. In neither case did the Gephardt or Kerry people mention any deal, and in fact, the Gephardt people, because they did not make the 15% viability test, did not go to the Kerry group. They went to Edwards and Dean groups.
Edwards and Kucinich made a deal, though. However, the Kucinich people did not all follow Kucinich's request to go to the Edwards group if they didn't have enough people. Some went to Gephardt, and some went to Kerry. I think the Dean group got a few of these Kucinich people.

I'm kind of fascinated with Iowa caucuses. I'll have to try and catch the reruns.
