I think I figured it out!
OK, so I've been having trouble the past few years reconciling the supposed "fact" that Resident Bush is this "moral" individual who at the same time seems to have no qualms about stealing from the Treasury, the American non-elite, and the world in general.

But last night I had a revelation - it came to me in a flash of sudden understanding. The answer, it turns out, was in the Bible the whole time: "The meek shall inherit the Earth."

Aha! Now I get it! What Bush is trying to do, by picking our collective pockets, is to make us all sufficiently meek so that we can eventually reclaim the world as our own again (after it's stripped of all its resources, probably).

Furthermore, according to Bartleby.com, "this saying implies that those who forgo worldly power will be rewarded in the kingdom of heaven." So not only is Bush helping us inherit the Earth, but - by usurping all of our worldly power - he is practically ushering us into a kingdom of heavenly rewards all by himself!

Wow! What a stunning self-sacrifice! He really is like Jesus!

God Bless You, Resident Bush!

(disclaimer: this may be satire)

2. The meek inherit the earth; the non-meek simply steal it.
Don't have a lot of patience when it comes to waiting for my inheritance. If its all just the same, I'll take my piece of the earth now, while I'm still able to enjoy it and before Chimp & Co. destroy it.

(Great post! LOL!!!)

3. I hear what you mean...
But, you know, even though I've "solved" the money/power part of the riddle that is Bush's supposed religious "morality," I still have trouble reconciling the whole "Thou shalt not kill" commandment with his leveling of Fallujah and the bombing of countless Iraqi civilian women and children.

Anyone wanna help me out with THAT piece of the morality puzzle?

5. Oh that's from this gospel...
"Blessed are the warmongers, for they shall kill and destroy all the non-Christians on the planet and God will be with them well pleased."

Must've overlooked that particular gospel the first time around - now it all makes perfect sense! Thanks for the laugh (and the welcome!)

6. Cafeteria Theology, pick and choose your favorites.
They are unable to see the big picture implied by the lofty morals they proclaim from their soap-boxes. (forest for the trees, etc.) So they select a certain value, pull a couple of scripture passages (often out of context), and voila! Morality that is easily defended to those they continue to dupe, and that is flexible. Depending on the situation, they just conveniently ignore any scripture that doesn't quite fit with their morality at the moment.

Doesn't sound like much of a morality at all, if you ask me.
