I like to present "THE GOLDEN NUTS" award to John F. Kerry. |
|
Congratulations Senator Kerry, you did not cave in. You voted against Condoleeza becoming the Secy of State. Good for you, though I could've done without the waffling in the beginning, you've done the right thing.

8. The thing is Kerry is concrete and most importantly honest. |
|
I will take Kerry's seeing both sides of the story to Bush definite wrong stands on an issue and his lies when it comes to social issues.
Seriously it is a talking point. Remember that. It is no more accurate when comparing him to other politicians than to say that he did not really deserve his medals in Vietnam.

Quoting what you said:
"I will take Kerry's seeing both sides of the story to Bush definite wrong stands on an issue and his lies when it comes to social issues."
What I say:
You are preaching to the choir, I am more interested in voters that didn't vote for Kerry. If this "flip-flop" issue is out of the way, or at least better explained then we don't have to put up with this childish argument and we can then focus on the real issues.
Quoting what you said:
"Seriously it is a talking point. Remember that. It is no more accurate when comparing him to other politicians than to say that he did not really deserve his medals in Vietnam."
Again we need to make sure we get new voters. Our tried and true voters already know that. Sorry about the "waffle" remark, but if he is going to make a showing in 2008, he needs to take care of these image problems.

13. I posted that before I realized that the confirmation vote is tomorrow. |
|
Sorry John Kerry! I hold nothing against the Dems who voted to end hearings.
It's not like she was giving good answers--might as well pass it on the full Senate.
And apparently the Dems are filibustering, so....?

17. But the vote still goes to the Senate. |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 05:01 PM by tjdee
I guess I'm confused, because I thought they did vote for her....to go on to the next step, which is a full Senate vote. Not to vote for her as in "I think you'll be a great SoS."
If this committee hearing was all she needed, she'd be official right now, right? They can still vote against her when the entire Senate votes, right?
on edit: Yes, I think it is bad that they voted to advance her. But this doesn't raise to the level of ire being generated by some here.
Anyway--why didn't Feingold get this level of irritation when he voted for John Ashcroft?

Don't get me wrong. I was glad he did, and surprised as well. But it matters not a hill of beans in the final analysis. But great (safe) symbolism, huh?

Not to make me swoon and roll over the floor in extasy like some here - but it was a good thing.
