Kerry: Rice a "principal architect" of a less-secure U.S.A.
http://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/01/19/rice.confirmation/index.html

After two days and 11 hours of often contentious hearings, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved Rice's nomination for the Cabinet position by a 16-2 vote Wednesday morning.

Democratic Sens. Barbara Boxer of California and John Kerry of Massachusetts were the two dissenting votes on the committee.

"Our votes ... have to count for something," Kerry said during a committee meeting that preceded the vote. "I choose to vote my concerns, not to overlook them. I choose to vote my gut, not custom. "

Kerry called Rice, President Bush's national security adviser, one of "principal architects" of policies that he said have made the United States less secure.

1. Too bad he and Boxer are the only two with character
It is sooooo obvious that this woman is in completely over her head, has absolutely NO independent thought, and simply toes the neo-con line for world domination.

It is sad that of those on the panel, only two were forthright enough to say it.

The emporer (and his parrot) have no clothes.

3. SCARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God bless Boxer & Kerry for voting their gut. Because their gut is SOOOOOOOOOOOO right!!!!!!!!!!

KINDASLEEZI (I don't think she's sleezy, it just sounds funny) doesn't seem to be her OWN WOMAN.... she seems to be a puppet with no original thought, and/or ability to dictate anything other than what's TOLD OF HER TO SPEAK

VOTING NO IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO, WAKE UP SENATORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7. You got that straight; why Biden was making all these great points
against her and then he voted "yes" because Bush wants her (primal scream). How about making the point with all she has done wrong, she is not FIT to be Sec of State!

10. It's a good gut, he should have used it more often during the campaign
Instead of listening to Cahill and Shrum. Get out of the candidate's way!

2. Kerry is going to make damn sure he's on the right side of these votes
from now on.

Good for him and Boxer. There should have been more, frankly.

5. We went to war because Iraq had a "bad attitude"?
...a bad attitude. Unbelievable.

Rice responded: "It was a question of an attitude about terrorism" that justified the war in Iraq, she said.

11. That and the tsunami quote, revealed to the world
what a cold and heartless bitch, this woman really is. Boxer prodded her continually to try to get her to show some human emotion. Condi was incapable of even a meager attempt at empathy.

"I do agree that the tsunami was a wonderful opportunity to show not just the US government, but the heart of the American people, and I think it has paid great dividends for us," she said.

Boxer, a sharp critic of Rice's work as national security adviser, quickly took the nominee to task over the characterization of the tsunami as a "wonderful opportunity."

"The tsunami was one of the worst tragedies of our lifetime," Boxer said. "And it's going to have a 10-year impact on rebuilding that area. I was very disappointed in your statement. I think you blew the opportunity."
