Tomorrow, I need to protest. But how?
I'm a seventh grade student in a Catholic school that at best went 15% Kerry. I need to protest tomorrow's election. The deep political god in the sky is telling me to. But it needs to be subtle. All three of my main teachers are conservative (though I did convince two to vote Kerry, one to vote straight Dem .

What's a good way to protest subtly? I can't go to DC, I never spend a damn dime anyway. Come on DUers, help me out. :D

2. I, for one, am wearing ORANGE
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 09:47 PM by ailsagirl
A big, bright, orange tee-shirt. I'm sure the other DU'ers will have some good ideas.

I normally wear a lot of black so this will be a startling change.

Good for you, being politically involved. I sure wasn't at your age!!
(But then, we didn't have anyone like * in office)

6. Dress code. :P
I'll try screaming "NO" at noon, but it's a Catholic school and I don't want to get in too much trouble.

9. All black is the order of the day - does your dress code allow that?
Also, wear a blue - or any color - paper clip.

but I'm wearing all black tomorrow and not spending a dime.
It's a day of mourning and I will tell everybody so.

4. 7th grade... I'm impressed.
If at all possible, at noon, go outside and yell "No." That's what Not in Our Name.org suggests. The "No" is to the Bush agenda and his legitimacy as prez.

7. Write e-mails to your Senators
Tell them how old you are and what you think about the country's direction. They may listen to you -- you're obviously pretty smart.....

11. Paper clip (blue if you have one) on your collar
It's subtle enough not to mess with the dress code where you are yet different enough to make a statement.

14. Welcome to DU, Sean...
Even just an all black t-shirt would work... It's what makes YOU feel like you are expressing yourself. But you don't want to get in any trouble, so keep it subtle...

18. How about waering a white ribbon: Got this from United for Peace & Justice
http://www.unitedforpeace.org/article.php?id=2694

WEAR A WHITE RIBBON: UFPJ also encourages everyone to wear a white ribbon on January 20 to honor all who have died as a result of the Bush Administration's policies. White is the symbol for peace in many countries around the world and the symbol of mourning in others. The white ribbon is simple and clear: "We mourn all of the dead. We support the troops. End the war now and bring the troops home."
