Florida state chair, Maddox, posts at the blog tonight.
It is a nice endorsement.

Hi, I am the Chairman of the Florida Democratic Party.

We are used to being in the spotlight — Florida, as we saw in 2000, is the definition of a swing state (thanks to the media, swinging several times in one night, even). We have a lot of work to do here, from reforming our voting process, which Republicans have continued to manipulate, to building the party infrastructure in every part of the state.

And that's what I want to talk to you about. We in Florida can't afford to just target the areas where we think we can do well and forget about the rest of the state. We need to speak to every Floridian — because every Floridian has a responsibility to make sure every other Floridian has the same opportunity to vote, get an education, succeed and provide for their family.

That's why I am proud to tell you that I, and every DNC member from Florida are endorsing Governor Howard Dean to be the next Chairman of our party.

He understands that we won't win Florida unless we try to win all of Florida — and build strong Democratic Party organizations next door in Alabama and Georgia, too. He understands that we can't win unless we show up to fight in every race, in every county, in every state. He knows that we need to engage local communities to build our party from the ground up. And he has the experience to do it. I would be honored if you would join me in supporting Gov. Howard Dean.

Thank you.

—Scott Maddox
Chairman, Florida Democratic Party

1. Thank you for supporting Howard Dean, I am especially proud
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 10:47 PM by caligirl
because I am a former Floridian(P.C. or redneck Riviera) I have been a Cali resident for 14+ years now and support Dean and have since June 'O3.
I hope to get to Sacramento Saturday to encourage California to also support Dean. I cannot tell you how reassuring it was during the primary to listen to Howard and feel good about politics and have a sense of hope about our and our sons futures. Howard ignited us into activism like no one else ever could. He spoke directly to an issue that meant so much to our family. His nephew and our teenage son both have juvenile diabetes(Type 1). He verbalized exactly our views on stem cell research and a better future for kids with this autoimmune disorder. I felt right away I could trust him with the issues affecting us in this issue.

Thank you for your vote of confidence in Howard Dean.

Looks like I should put this in a different blog.

2. I sure hope C-Span televises it.
I envy you getting to go. We are doing pretty well here in our DFA activities. There is a little more activism here now, and Maddox in a letter did credit a lot of it to Dean supporters.

:hi:

6. I think he'll run for AG again
Charlie Crist will run for Gov for the GOP, so that will be an open seat, too.

He'll either have a hard primary for Governor or a clear shot at AG. I like Scott Maddox, but given that he's never been elected to anything higher than Mayor, I think that'd be better for him.

7. Agree. Do you think Castor will run?
She's speaking at a brunch here Saturday, hope someone asks her. I might. Doubt she would answer. Only losing by 1.5% with all the big guns against her was not bad at all.

I think that Jim Davis should run for Governor and she should run for his house seat. But, she might. I think she'd do well.
