So What's Gotten Into The Democrat's Water In DC?
First comes Kennedy putting the breaks on the Abu Gonzales nomination, then tonight the announcement that Reid is going to force a floor debate on CondoLIAR's nomination -- and RAW STORY reports it could go on for NINE hours.

Where'd the Democrats get all the extra cartilage? Was this Harry Reid's strategy all along? Did Barbara Boxer shame them into action? Did they finally feel some shame at bending over so deeply towards Dear Leader? Or have we been so loud and obnoxious to them and in support of Boxer that they finally realized they NEEDED to act like actual Democrats?

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy about it, and we need to keep their feet to the fire. But it's quite an about-face in the space of about 36 hours, don't'cha think?

(Thanks for reading my first official post!)

2. You noticed it too?
Whatever it is, I hope they keep it up. Even if we are nothing more than a constant annoyance.

Hey, first post? Welcome to DU!

7. Woah, you have 213?
The first 212 were unofficial?

3. I don't know what it is, but I like it.
I'm taking it as a sign that they're ready to fight with the neocons. I'd love to hear whats been going on at dem caucus meetings.

4. "We" are what happened.
We've bitched and yelled and raised enough political Cain that they're finally understanding that if they want to continue to hold their seats and continue to run this country in the democratic fashion in which it was created, they'd better get off their cow-towing arses.

5. My theory
They know Gonzalez and Rice will be confirmed. There are two options:

(1) filibuster
(2) open a debate, let it (eventually) get to a vote

Option (1) means the story is all about the petty Democrats, they can't get over it, obstructionist, blah blah blah

Option (2) gets a little of that, but a lot of it will be about what they say about Rice and the administration

Is Reid crafty like a fox? Yes.

The Dems in Congress are realizing their backs are against the wall.

8. I gave more $ than I could afford
to Dems this election. I won't give another cent until we do develop such a backbone and start standing up to the neocons. I think all of our feedback and anger has shown the reps that if they want our $ they have to start representing us.

9. Aw, it's just temporary.
Once they catch a whiff off the bad press they'll get in the coming days, they'll be back at the BushCo trough with the rest of the pigs.

And then we'll be sitting around, howling our heads off about what traitors they are. Haven't you guys figured out this pattern yet? It's a constantly repeating cycle.

11. What Bad Press?
I don't watch Faux/Bushco News TV.

I have seen the stories that Bush is holding the most lavish to-do in history while our kids die in Iraq.

Maybe we ALL need to get a backbone and let everyone know it.

14. Erika..we've got to let the
media know that we know it. As long as we don't let them know that we are on to their tricks and complain CONSTANTLY about their biased news reporting, they will continue to do it.

Send at least one email a day to either a policitian or to a tv station or newspaper and let them know how you feel about their rw columnists and the lies they tell and the ommissions they make.

I sent out four emails today..to two politicans and to the newspaper. I am having an email war with a columnist from the NY Daily News. Imagine that! I wrote something about his column that has made him so angry that he is having an actual battle of insults and name calling. It is amazing! And this man writes for the MSM!

12. They better lead or get the hell out of the way
I'd like to kick Diane Feinstein in the ass for the way she oppologises for being a democrat-

-Hey, Diane, if your so ashamed of your beleifs, do us all a favor and join the republicans. We need people there who have the courage of their convictions, not dolled up ballerina's dancing polite minuets.

13. It was us...
Plain and simple we are seeing the result of communicating with these folks and telling them the truth about how we feel. They aren't down here on the ground like we are, so they may not want to hear it, but we tell them the TRUTH. And I think that more and more of us have been writing to the media as well as to our politicans. Numbers count!

15. Remember the prayer-"We are the people we have been waiting for"
Wise Hopi Elders...I heard Biden refer to his e-mail being flooded with letters last night. We are becoming a powerful, unified force moving closer and closer... We will not be silenced!

17. read TNR lately?
The New Republic is filled with articles that scream for democrats to fight dirty, attack GOP on policy and personally as well, use any political and procedural tricks available, to be like Ginrich. I don't like a lot of stuff that comes out of TNR sometimes, but could that be the indication that even moderates and new democrats are finally getting tired of the spineless label?
