I feel I must go there. There are important matters to discuss. It's about dictatorships, tyranny, freedom of the press, liberty, and fear and intimidation. Is it safe to discuss so openly any more? Seriously...

...but it's not what you make it out to be. It's made up of a small coterie of cliques who PM gossip to each other and think they're being clever with innuendos in threads, like they were back in junior high or elementary school.
The vast majority of us, however, are mature adults who speak plainly our thoughts and beliefs openly on the board like grown men & women.

and not because I am worried, although we would be stupid not to worry. I wonder because I hate to be left out :cry: Seriously, things could get much worse and I do think we would be held accountable for anything we have ever said or written. Soooooo, it is too late now for many of us. I am in a rental truck at the moment and I know that many times there are devices in vehicles that record things like your speed etc. It does not have On Star but I have heard that On Star can listen in, I don't know. However, coming home from the farm this morning I was listening to the inauguration :puke: out of morbid curiosity and said some things that probably should never have been said out loud and made myself a little worried. It is nothing I am sure but the game is already over for many of us who have put our thoughts and feelings on a public board so why stop now?

and I can't tell you when (post 9/11 doncha know) and I do not save a lot of the things I should but it is here somewhere and perhaps someone will be kind enough to provide it. Other than that, you could look for it here or other places but he told the American Public that and I, for one, took that to be a very serious moment for this country. Don't you think if they could they would shut us down now? None of those in power at the moment want to hear anything but praise and adoration and will not accept that any other ideology has any merit. Why did they Boo Kerry today as he walked in? No class is part of the reason but I would wager it is more of the same old "with us or against us" crap.

...right out in the open. Believe me, when the government decides that free speech needs to be curtailed, here is where they will start, but they haven't reached that point.
What they've discovered instead is that smothering free speech works better than choking it. Massive distorted disinformation is being fed to the sheople daily by FAUX News, Radio Hannicoulterbaugh, and even the BSM. For now this is a little corner of free speech they've decided to ignore.
Well, not ignore. Actually the intent is to marginalize. Post freely, and don't worry about who is reading it. By the time they get to tracking down names and computer users and all of that we'll be so far into totalitarianism that posting on DU will be the least of your worries.
