did I hear this correctly? He is praying for 'clean financial statements' |
|
What on earth? My husband is from Houston and tells me that this pastor is a well-known Democrat... But why is he praying for 'clean financial statements'?

7. no, this is Rev. Kirby John Caldwell, |
|
pastor of Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston. Ed Young, is pastor of Second Baptist Church in Houston, and I'm pretty sure, by hearing his messages, is Republican. I live about a block from his church. Its big. has 3 campuses around the houston area, which he flies between, in a helicopter, on Sundays to preach. Kirby John Caldwell has his MBA from Wharton School of Business at the Univ. of Pennsylvania, so I guess that's why he's praying for 'clean financial statements'. I believe, he has usually vocally supported Democrats, but Bush promised him that he would empower a lot of Blacks, so he is supporting him. His is a big church, over 9000 members, of which Evander Holyfield is one. Apparently, his congregation is not too happy at his support of Bush.

I thought Bu$hie might go with Ed Young just because of his huge church. But Bu$hie is a supposed Methodist so this does make sense.
Windsor Village... I'm trying to remember where that is, but all I can remember is the hideous Windsor Plaza Theatre. It's not in that general 610 Hell area, is it?
Praying for "clean financial statements". Like Jeebus has a big bottle of White-Out. How about praying for some HONESTY in those who create and attest to those statements?
Greetings from an ex-Houstonian (1984-1998; last lived on McKinney near Channel 11)!

My husband tells me that Windsor Village United Methodist Church is in Southeast Houston, near Hobby Airport. I moved to Houston in 2001 'cuz that's where my hubby was, and I am still trying to get to know it. Can't say I like it, but 'I am learning to appreciate it'! trying to be diplomatic. Moved here from New Orleans; quite a difference. Way more conservative. :hi:

I moved there from NOLA too! Husband of the moment got transferred so had to go. I didn't like it much for quite a while; the family joke was that I left claw marks in the highway from the I-10 Bonnabel exit, to 59 at Beechnut ;-)
One of the things that is good there, is the food. Really. You would never think so coming from NO, but Houston has a lot of very good restaurants. I guess this is good since there's nothing to do but shop, eat and sweat. If you haven't already, try Goode Company Seafood off of Kirby. Not the BBQ place - the seafood place is in a converted railroad car about a block off Kirby just south of 59.
I used to like to hang around the little shops on West Gray, and also in Rice Village. Sometimes in Rice Village, if it's not 102 degrees outside, you can imagine you're somewhere civilized. And Rice U is down there too.... Ivy League quality school, and where most of the intelligensia is clustered.
And then there's Marvin Zindler and "SLIME IN THE ICE MACHINE". Making fun of all the local MSM talking heads is amusing too. (Is Dave Ward still around on 13? It's fun to play "Is Dave In The Bag tonight?")
I must say that having lived in Houston gives me some insight into Poopy and Bu$hie. No zoning means you can put anything anywhere you damn well please, if you have enough money. And that's about their idea of gubmint.
