1. sad how he has to do this
He has to pay the ridiculous costs of broadcasting this over the internet, while the other candidates have their meetings replayed all the time on c-span. In the leadup to Iowa, they played dean/gephart/kerry/edwards campaign events constantly. Not a single one from Kucinich.

21. He had his chance
He was offered a full hour in prime time and he was the only candidate to turn it down. All because he's afraid of Chris Matthews.

The man doesn't deserve to be taken seriously.

22. Did you SEE how Chris Matthews treated Dennis when he came on his show?
I would never go back to that... He did not let him get a word out.

Treated him with SO much disrespect and screamed at him repeatedly. If you did not see this you do not know of what you speak so you should not speak at all.

And its because of this that he does not deserve to be taken seriously? Shame on you! You do not deserve to be taken seriously after insulting a democrat who has dedicated his life to the American people and progressive ideals.

He sacrificed his political career to save Cleveland tax payers money.

He is the only candidate who voted against the IWR, the 87 Billion, and the Patriot act.

He was a close friend of Paul Wellstone and canvassed for him in 2002!

He's honest, he sticks to his convictions, and believes in hope not fear!

Shame on you! If you do not like him, do not support him, but NEVER insinuate he does not deserve to be taken seriously as he has always taken the American people seriously!

26. I did see it
And I stand by what I said: he's afraid of Matthews and can't stand up to him. I've seen Chris Matthews try and pull his "talk real loud and interrupt" bit on Clark, Dean and other candidates, and they shoved it right back in his face with quick wit and measured responses. When it happened to him, all DK could do is stutter. It was painful to watch a guy so not ready for real down and dirty political debate. Do you honestly think that when the general election comes that the right wing media is going to be all polite and let people finish their sentences? Give me a break. We need a person that can stand up to the right wing media and defend their views forcefully. DK is not that person.

25. I saw him on Mathews
and if I were DK I wouldn't spit on Tweety if he were on fire after the way he treated him the first time. I certainly wouldn't go on his bullshit college tour.

8. Kucinich supporters fully support Kucinich and know that Edwards
is the candidate who has been most listening to Kucinich's point of view and Kucinich supporters are happy that things worked out the way they did. Kucinich has delegates. The worst candidate came in third - despite all the money he spent to get win Iowa. Soon Dennis will be better known and will come in first.

11. Dennis responding now.
He watched grimly. He did not rise or clap. He is responding live now.

The audience in NH seemed disgusted with the SOTU.

Dennis going after Bush for turning our rights into "grists for the president's mill." He's taking the SOTU apart. Piece by piece.

He is deadly serious. Calm, but firm.

from the Bushspeech. This so refreshing to hear Rep. Kucinich. Good tone.

My favorite Act from the Representative:

108th CONGRESS
1st Session
H. CON. RES. 2

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
January 7, 2003

Ms. JACKSON-LEE of Texas (for herself, Mr. KUCINICH, Ms. LEE, Mr. DAVIS of Illinois, and Ms. WATSON) submitted the following concurrent resolution; which was referred to the Committee on International Relations

CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

Expressing the sense of Congress that the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 should be repealed.

18. ROFLMAO
Dennis is responding to an audience member's question.

One of his campaign managers(?) comes out to tell him that the NYT wants a statement about the SOTU tonight. He looks at her, and says, "Well, they can watch." And turns back to finish answering the man's question. Then takes the next question.

He'll give them a statement in a few minutes when he's done talking to the people.

20. Final question from a 13-year old:
"I notice that Bush didn't mention anything about Osama Bin Laden in his speech. What are you going to do about him?"

Dennis, grinning; "Who? the President? or Osama Bin Laden?"

Crowd roars.

Dennis' response; Bush didn't get into it because it would showcase what he doesn't know; where Osama is, where the wmd's are. And it might raise questions about what he did know.

The only way to heal the wounds from 9/11 is to get to the truth of it; and that's something we haven't been able to do. We need public discussion, and we can't do that unless the truth is told.

It's cerebral, not slapstick or even sharp tongued like Sharpton. It takes a second to grab you but when it does you know it's hit the right spot. LOL

30. Do you guys really think we should be encouraging Kucinich?
I am serious. He has already been marginalized by the media. And he helped them do it by letting them cover fucntios associated with exotic or strange ideas/people/practices, etc. If we progressives want our ideas to eventually be taken seriously, then we should only support candidates who can be taken seriously by the masses. We need a more mainstream-appearing candidate. But not Dennis. Otherwise, we run the risk of damaging the progressive cause.

I am not putting down, disparaging, or denigrating non-mainstream causes or activities or beliefs. In fact, as someone pointed out in another, related, thread, I myself am associated with some decidedly non-mainstream practices. But I would keep that part of myself out of the spotlight, were I running for president. Dennis has not: in fact, he has used it for publicity. But unfortunately it has only hurt him, and more importantly, it has hurt the progressive cause.

Dennis should step aside, and we, his supporters, should let him know it. I know that many of you take this personally, and I feel bad about that, but this is just how I feel.
