Edited on Thu Jan-20-05 08:05 PM by Clarkie1
Don't want to inadvertantly catch any snippets of reruns. However, it did warm my heart to hear on the radio that protesters pelted his limo with snow and ice!

14. I caught glimpses now and then.
It was a busy day at my shop today so I did not catch too much TV. You have to remember, I live in Texas and most of my customers were absolutely gushing about Shrub being their President for four more years.

I asked a couple, "Who's our next President?" Their answer? "Jeb Bush!":puke: :grr: :puke:

26. Somebody at school asked me if I was going to watch it..
I looked at her incredulously. "Whatever for?" I asked. "To celebrate the coronation of * and the complete takeover of our political process by multinational corporations?" I still can't get over the fact that people think there is something to celebrate.

turned on CBS Evening News just in time to catch the great protests (good coverage on CBS). That's the extent of my exposure today.

Somebody got inaugurated today??

8. I didn't, but I had C-Span2 on for awhile
At one point, one of the leaders of the rally went to the mike and said something like, "It's over" or "The president is finished speaking now" or something. It reminded me of the horrible occasions when someone is put to death, and a person comes out to announce that it's over, he's dead... You know something horrible just happened inside, something you didn't want to see.

17. I am wearing Black....
and all I saw was a couple of very short snippets on C-span (less than 1 minute of it I watch....while * was still in the car) that my husband insisted on turning on.

Apart from that, I listened to Morning Sedition (they did the Ignore on the event) and Randi Rhodes. That was the extent of my exposure to today's Ignoreguration of the Imbecile.

And I won't be watching for a few more days as the stench lingers.

I did see watch this Faux News clip though....and recommend it to all as the Ignoreguration Faux smackdown that it truly is. Now this really did cheered me up and made me feel that all is not lost!

I could not watch one second of that Repuke Party while our soldiers are being asked to sacrifice their lives. $40 million just to make the boy king think he's really the President. The Pukes can have him, and they can share the embarrassment and ridicule that History will rain down upon him.

Edited on Thu Jan-20-05 08:27 PM by rocknation
I couldn't have if I wanted to. But I'm happy to say that though I thought today would be as depressing as November 4, it was a plesant surprise.

I dressed in black, but topped it with a blue jacket to show that this particular citizen of Blue America was still standing. Following the news of the protests on DU was most encouraging, especially the Fox News "meltdown" story and reading that at least one big media outlet mentioned Turn Your Back On Bush. And to top it off, what to my wondering eyes should appear on my drive home but an anti-war rally being held in the town square! I the horn and gave them a big thumbs up!

25. the dumbest of the dumb
Can't stomach it. he goes on about this and that and it is all talk. then, talks about working together with others and everybody know THAT is a lie. He does not have a clue how to work with others. the little rich kid syndrome has never been more accurate than when applied to this guy. nero fiddling over Rome is another one that seems to fit.

i did not watch much from other presidents including clinton because i did not want to be swayed by rhetoric. i would always track their actions. but this guy, i can't watch any of it. what galls me is the folks that like him. they prefer rhetoric over reality. and that is what bothers me the most about the election; how so many people were fooled by his "personna". No gravitas, indeed.

the dumbest of the dumb following the stupidest of the stupid, manipulated by the worst of the worst.

One of the odd things about "big days" is that they are only "big days" inside their frame of reference. If you don't buy the frame, it's not a "big day."

45. You made a mistake in not watching.
I didn't think I would be able to stand it, but the protesters did much better than I expected. Despite the fact that most of them were kept far away, some of them got "forward".

ABC, Ch. 7, mentioned the protesters repeatedly. They mentioned the irony of no one being allowed to protest in Freedom Plaza. They discussed the questions raised by Bush's speech re "freedom". Would this mean freedom for the those detained in Guantanamo?

George Will called the trip from the Capitol to the White House a "military operation", "unworthy", "not attractive", "banana republic", and said if it was going to be done this way, then they should "just get in the car and drive 30 miles an hour". That was George Will.

I found the inauguration well worth watching. I was pleased. I admit that I had thought I wouldn't be able to stomach it, but things worked out well.

Some idiot flipped it on at the end of anatomy class.

I excused myself to the bathroom for as long as I could afford. Saw a couple of my liberal teachers out in the hallway, doing the same thing as me. I came back in, and luckily only had to sit through about 90 seconds of it. I didn't look at the screen (did homework instead), but I could hear the protestors yelling and it made me feel a little better.

Edited on Fri Jan-21-05 01:10 AM by mvd
I noticed how the motorcade sped by them. By doing that, they were made more noticeable on TV, which is good! It also made Bush look silly again.

I also saw Kerry. I think from his looks today, Kerry has suffered from this election more than we all know. I'll tone down my bashing as a result. The Bush Crime family and associated thugs just eviscerate people. Kerry would have stood up for America, but he had too much honor to stoop to a low level. And you need to surround yourself with better advisors.
