Jon Stewart and Brian Ross (ABC)..unforgettable snippet, esp. re: today.
On the Daily Show a couple of nights ago, Jon had Brian Ross on as his guest. Ross does some investigative reporting for ABC (when they let him, I guess.)

Ross seemed pretty nervous. Ross acknowledged that a lot of money was spent to "try to influence us" and Jon followed with "are they succeeding?" and Ross nervously shook his head and said, "I hope not."

Some banter on the "liberal media" and then the killer:

Jon closed praising Ross' reports, and then said....."I do think that at a certain point that people are going to go to Washington and start ripping people out of of there, which would be real nice."

Ross: "Take to the streets."

Jon: "Exactly." (pointing at Ross) "Nice."

When I first heard this, I couldn't believe my ears. I'm so glad I have it on tape. Perhaps it's the start of something....

1. Nah. We're not hungry enough.
And Bush hasn't thrown enough ostentatious parties. But he will.

2. Ross got me breathing again with his statements.
I've been holding my breath so long, with respect to the mainstream media, that I thought I'd never again get to come up for air. Brian Ross, with Jon Stewart, gave me a blast of cool, fresh air. How long before he gets the ax?

6. The choir
are who need to rise up.

The Diapered Chimp will soon be crowing 'Let Them Eat Paste!' After that we'll get the crowds, the rope, the lamppost, the dangling.

14. I agree with you.
And yet here the Choir sits.

I can't help but think it will be soldiers, coming back from IraqIranistan, or unemployed blue collar that finally snap.

I ask what keeps me from revolting, considering I am likely as informed as the next person, and probably more. And it IS hurting me and my business, this "Bush Doctrine" (saw this headline on our morning paper)

5. Only until the draft is reinstated
will riots break out. Unfortunately, the powers that be know this. 'Murkins are happy enough just to go along for the ride.

9. I agree. The draft will be the catalyst....I think Rangel is bringing
it up for a reason. Are there any Republican co-sponsors? Probably not. The Admin. says no draft. Because they know it will be their downfall. So they rob the National Guard and Indiv. Reserve quietly for their wars.

The Dems could play this right. If the talk about the draft in the context of how our Army is WEAKENED, how the Guard is dwindling, how we can't protect America. In other words, throw it all back at Bush...get the discussion started, and maybe America wakes up.....??

10. It will happen the minute the words "US implementing the draft"
that'll shake people up. There was a hint of it today in asshole's address.

"All Americans have witnessed this idealism, and some for the first time. I ask our youngest citizens to believe the evidence of your eyes. You have seen duty and allegiance in the determined faces of our soldiers. You have seen that life is fragile, and evil is real, and courage triumphs. Make the choice to serve in a cause larger than your wants, larger than yourself - and in your days you will add not just to the wealth of our country, but to its character. ""

13. And to show my sincerity...
I will be heading to Iraq to man the polls on January 30, and enrolling Jenna and Barbara in the Army for immediate deployment to Iraq.

15. It's a sad commentary on the US media...
...that the most thoughful issue coverage is on a late night comedy show.

That said, check video at http://www.comedycentral.com/tv_shows/thedailyshowwithjonstewart/videos.jhtml

Watch for the Brian Ross interview.

If you missed it, the Jim Wallis interview is most intersting "...I doube Jesus would have started his term cutting capital gains taxes and invading Iraq..."
