Just heard that Delta Airlines lost $2.2 billion in the 4th quarter. |
|
Near $6 billion for the year. That is nearly 2/3 of a million dollars an hour. Bu$h will let all the airlines die, and then allow cabotage (foreign airlines flying US domestic flights). Mark my word. Airline labor has been in his sights from day one.

2. Yay, more corporate welfare coming |
|
Pilots and flight attendants will lose pensions, pay, and some their jobs, while the executives continue to make out like bandits on the government's dime. You would think all those free-market Republicans would say that that's capitalism, but that's asking too much of them.

4. I lost my pension on 3/31/2003. |

That was when the bankruptcy judge allowed US Airways to terminate the pilots' pension plan. Now another BK judge has approved the termination of other US Airways pensions and the abrogation of contracts. Tomorrow is the drop-dead date for the IAM (mechanics and others) to approve a radical agreement or go with the court-imposed ruling. Labor lawyers are uncertain about the legality of "self-help" (strike) at this point. The IAM seldom listens to lawyers when their blood is hot.
