Led by Cheney, Imus in the Morning became Brit Hume fan club
From Media Matters:

On the January 20 edition of MSNBC's Imus in the Morning, host Don Imus and Newsweek chief political correspondent Howard Fineman joined Vice President Dick Cheney in heaping praise on FOX News host, managing editor, and chief Washington correspondent Brit Hume. When asked by Imus, "Do you watch the news at night?" Cheney responded, "I sometimes watch another network . No, I'm a fan of Brit Hume's show. I think Brit does a good job." Imus then declared, "I actually like Brit Hume." Later in the program, Fineman stated that Hume is a "terrific journalist" who has been "great at ABC and great at FOX."

Cheney's praise for Hume is unsurprising, given that Hume is a regular promoter of Cheney and the Bush administration. But it is unclear why Imus and Fineman have such respect for Hume as a journalist, given his long history of distortions and outright falsehoods and his reliable attacks on Democrats, which Media Matters for America has documented:

* Hume defended Cheney with lie about Kerry weapons-system cuts
* Hume defended Rumsfeld's falsehood as "quite thoughtful," "pretty reasonable"
* Led by Hume, FOX "All-Stars" agreed on falsehoods about Social Security
* Barnes, Hume, and Limbaugh agree on a lie: "Bush had said that there was not an imminent threat"
* As evidence mounts of GOP connection to anti-Kerry Swift Boat Vets, Hume and Dole deny the obvious
* Hume on Kerry: "He'd have to clear everything" with Jacques Chirac
* FOX's Brit Hume spins for Bush

3. Yeah, like THAT'LL happen for him...

...who has to be kept as the trophy wife of a creepy old lizard with money.

Never seen what Imus's floozy looks like, but I've heard about the two of them. Maureen Dowd is attractive because she is independent, has a brain, and is understated and funny, a combination that would probably make for an interesting woman to share evenings with.

Accomplished women have options and don't need to prostitute themselves with wealthy but unappealing men.

12. Your opinion about people's writing isn't of much interest to me...
...and I was fortunate enough to have been accepted into a high school of serious academic standards, so I have no experience of what on earth a "high school newspaper gossip column" reads like.

So long.

16. I've only read "Bushworld"...
...but it was a collection of several hundred pretty readable pages about the first few Bush years. I've seen her more than once on Real Time with Bill Maher, and she always seemed like a good addition to the show.

Sorry, but it seems your problem with her is more about you and maybe some silly resentment of a more obscure person towards a woman of notoriety and success. She is, after all, a Pulitzer Prize winner for commentary.

Make yourself feel better by reading the oeuvre of your Mrs. Imus, instead.

Have a good weekend.

2. Imus is a slut. A very powerful slut, but still a slut.
He will drift this way and that. At his core, he has good progressive values. But his support is often up for grabs.

The DNC has to be sure to send a steady stream of guests onto his show. If they do, we keep Imus as a media outlet. By next week, they can have him ripping into "that lying SOB Cheney" and "the phonies over there at FOX News."

4. I haven't seen or heard Imus in many months
but he did slam the admin. alot and hard back then. So your observation appears to be accurate.

What happened?

5. He just drifts and needs attention.
He's like an eight year old sometimes. Have Dean or Carville or Biden call him next week and he'll swing right back over to bashing the Chimp.

7. actually sounds like
how we sometimes deal with Democratic politicians here on DU!

Up. Down. Up.Down.

Imus always made me laugh, even when I disagreed with him. I enjoyed his show.

I guess I have no real problem with sluts.
