Cheney screws up
It was just last November that Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle lost his seat to a Republican challenger, but Vice President Dick Cheney seems to have forgotten his name already.

Greeting South Dakotans at the Democracy Ball on Thursday night, Cheney told them, "Thanks for beating Larry Pressler." Oops. Pressler was the incumbent Republican defeated by a Democrat in 1996.

When Cheney's remark was met mostly by silence, he groped for a quick recovery: "No, that was four years ago. I totally blew it. Oh, what's his name? Tom Daschle - he's no longer with us and we appreciate that."

2. I don't think there's any "oops" at all
to these remarks. They sound carefully scripted--to further emphasize how little they think of Daschle.

5. He didn't remember John Edwards either.
I think it is senility. Makes me wonder if we're not shooting off press questions to the wrong person?

9. That must be because Edwards, I mean Daschle, spent so
little time in the Senate! Right?
