Most Americans believe that people agree with Bush and like him because
the MSM refused to talk about, or print about the real dissent going on in this country. If the truth got as much press coverage as the "happy talk" of FOX News and the talk radio shows of Hannity and Limbaugh, people would be in the streets right now.

1. check media matters today
it was all conservative coverage all day. amazing. http://mediamatters.org/

Between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Republican and conservative guests and commentators outnumbered Democrats and progressives 19 to 7 on FOX*, 10 to 1 on CNN (not including a Republican-skewed panel featuring Ohio voters), and 13 to 2 on MSNBC.
Echoing Bush messaging, Gergen called Iraq part of the "war on terrorism"
While commenting for CNN on President Bush's inauguration speech, former presidential adviser David R. Gergen mouthed the administration line on Iraq and terrorism, referring to the Iraq invasion and the toppling of dictator Saddam Hussein as part of the "war on terrorism."

4. These numbers are appalling.
We all know the thugs are trying to shut us out of the mainstream media, but what is the Democratic Party doing about this? (I know, nothing.) It's absolutely ridiculous. How can anyone say "the liberal media" with a straight face?

2. The likes of Hannity and Limbaugh appeal to people
who do not want to do their own thinking. I wish someone would count how many times Limbaugh says, "The Liberals in this country" or "The Left" in some demoralizing way. Too many people listen to this nonsense and believe it because it is coming from a radio show. They think that because these people TALK like they know what is going on that they really DO know what is going on.

If you tell a lie long enough some people are going to believe it.

3. My 81 year old Mom loves Bush - she's never heard of Karl Rove
We were talking about the Rather mess and I said, he got Roved. She asked what I meant, I said, he fell for one of Karl Rove's traps. She said - who's Karl Rove.

5. If you haven't seen this survey on the Bush Voter, you GOTTA read it
The snip I quote only scratches the surface

http://alternet.org/election04/20263/

<snip>

Do the supporters of President Bush really know their man or the policies of his administration?

Three out of 4 self-described supporters of President George W. Bush still believe that pre-war Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction (WMD) or active programs to produce them. According to a new survey published Thursday, the same number also believes that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein provided "substantial support" to al Qaeda.

But here is the truly astonishing part: as many or more Bush supporters hold those beliefs today than they did several months ago. In other words, more people believe the claims today –- after the publication of a series of well-publicized official government reports that debunked both notions.

These are among the most striking findings of a survey conducted in mid-October by the University of Maryland's Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA) and Knowledge Networks, a California-based polling firm.
