A political dynasty grows in stature

ON UTTERING the 35 words of the presidential oath, President Bush cemented his family’s claim to be the foremost American political dynasty.

The Bushes have now overtaken John Adams and his son John Quincy Adams, the only other father and son to inhabit the White House.

The first Adams, like the first Bush, served a single term. The second Adams, like the second Bush, rose to the White House after failing to win the popular vote. But he lost his bid for a second term.

The Kennedy clan has commanded headlines for 50 years, but they are eclipsed by the Bush achievement.

It's stunning how the media is continuing to shield and flatter the boy king. It makes me sick to see him so puffed up and full of himself.

This is no proud political dynasty -- it's a gang of criminals!
