When is Al Franken going to stop giving his dittohead friend air time? |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-21-05 02:58 PM by Cyrano
He was just talking with him about Limbaugh's accusation that the Dems are bigoted against hispanics because they gave Gonzales a hard time during the confirmation hearings for attorney general.
Franken tried to get his friend to disavow this garbage, but no way the asshole would do it. If Franken wants to keep up his friendship with this Neanderthal, that's fine. But why does he let the moron have one instant of air time?
Yeah, I know, "let's let everyone see how stupid dittoheads are." Wake the fuck up, Al. We already know how dense these people are.

...I kinda just want them both to go off the air and just beat the shit out of each other. I can't stand Mark Luther and Franken has just been bothering the hell out of me lately.

You can pull a lot of tricks on radio. Are you sure this is a "real" person? :)

13. It's a "real" person (as real as a dildohead can be) |

Mark is a childhood friend of Al's that he has on several times a week to let him argue with Lush Limpball's nonsense. Mark has drank the Kool Aid, made a fresh batch and is guzzling it down as they speak on the air. I hate that portion of the show. Lame, the guy has been shown time and time again the lies that Lush spews yet he continues to defend him despite overwhelming evidence that nothing the man says is true. Its like a three-year-old that is caught telling their parent they didn't eat the last donut (with powdered sugar all over their face) and still sticks to the story, "I didn't eat it." Mark is on message and he is not going to be swayed by logic, truth, facts or common sense.
I'm with you, enough of Mark. He is just giving free air time to promote Lush. Would rather AAR spend more time with interviews of the many really good liberal speakers that come to the show. Seems like they are always making goofy jokes, pander a little, ask a question and then before it can be answered they cut to a commercial or say they are out of time.
BTW - listening to AAR the other day one of their regulars (forget who, think it was a woman) made the statement that the repugs have a weekly meeting to discuss that week's talking points, buzz phrases, etc. on the media. Said it started out with about two dozen people and now about 100 (?) people, including many media people, take part in this weekly meeting. Did anyone else hear this? And why aren't we calling them on it every time you get the canned BS. It makes sense - they use all the same words, same message, just like the clones they are. I have tried to find it in the AAR archives but no luck. Tell me I'm not crazy!

Unfortunately, he is a real dildohead being given a platform on a liberal radio station. Sometimes we are just too kind for our own good.

7. Add me to the list of those who just turn this segment off. |
|
I understand that these dittoheads don't know the facts well, and refuse to give Rush up despite evidence that he just plain reiterrates the rightwing talking points of the day, and makes a whole lot of stuff up, plain and simple.
He does his job well, which, I believe, is to keep money flowing in to certain rightwing coffers, by keeping THE BASE whipped up (and lathered).
But, I do not wish to waste my precious time listening to this drivel. And I've heard Al state that he is aware some progressives do not like the segment. Still he continues...

I hate to say it, but I really am proud of Al for giving his friend some time on the mic. If anyone actually wants to believe him is another story, but he's allowing both sides to voice there opinions clearly and (I think) showing that the liberal/left side is far more tolerant and willing to debate than the right is. I'm afraid to say this fourm most of the time doesn't seem to be the same. Showing that on some level, liberals and convseratives can live together and be friends.
I'm very glad it's not just a one sided show, at least the other side is represented. Even if in a small part, it's only fair.

propaganda machine (the Bush govt.) in the history of this country. You may not like the comparison, but why, during WWII, didn't we give Hitler more air time to explain his views.
Think that's harsh? You've seen what's happened over the past four years. Who knows if we'll even be allowed to have this conversation here four years from now?

I do agree with you the biggest propaganda machine in the history of this country part. But I doubt that al franken would allow anyone from the bush crime family to spread propaganda on his show. He's just allowing this guy to talk to show people the other side and allowing himself to rebuff the ideas. If he allowed him to talk and then NOT say anything back, then I'd agree with your entire statment.
EDIT: Although I must admit I havent heard his show in about a week. So the last I remember, he rebuffed his friend.

24. And considering he has the highest ratings at AAR, |

the company goes under.
Personally, I think the fact that there are all sorts of voices on AAR is a good thing — otherwise, we end up being no better than dittoheads.
