Is there such a thing as Mutual Assured Destruction in MiddleEast ? |
|
The Cold War standoff USA vs USSR was accomplished with MAD, mutual assured destruction. US submarine warfare capability, as shown in the book "Blind Man's Bluff" by Sherry Sontag and Christopher Drew, shows us that the unspoken deterrent of US naval overresponse to any Soviet aggression would result in Mutual Assured Destruction.
In the Middle East, is such a policy even possible with Israeli and Arab belligerants ?
Comments please. We are now hearing that Iranian delivery systems can reach Diego Garcia. If true, is there a pact with Israel/US ?

1. Israel has LONG kept the Arab world at bay by |

keeping a nuke at the ready targetting the Aswan Dam in Egypt. Hitting I would flood all of populated Egypt. I don't know of any other nation holding the same Sword of Damocles over Israel.

2. So in 35 years when the oil runs out on an overpopulated Arab world |
|
and the conditions are ripe for revolutions of any sort, what consolation do Western democracies have in knowing that these countries have very little hope of 'a good life' based upon materialism ? Slim prospects indeed loom.
Overpopulation and a Bush administration policy promoting it are ludicrous right now, but that is what the world is stuck with. MSM isn't real good at pointing out these inconsistencies, or just doesn't care as long as the ad revenues keep coming in.
We need eachother, but are acting like we don't. This goes for Muslims, Jews and Christians and everyone else.
