Read Gingrich's "Language : Mechanism of Control" and see how they do it
"But the clearest expression of Gingrich's philosophy of media came in a GOPAC memo entitled "Language: A Key Mechanism of Control." Distributed to GOP candidates across the country, the memo's list of words for Democrats and words for Republicans was endorsed by Gingrich in a cover letter: "The words in that paper are tested language from a recent series of focus groups where we actually tested ideas and language." Next time you hear Gingrich complain about media focusing on the negative, refer back to these lists."

"Contrasting words",

"Optomistic Positive Governing Words"

Dems and progressives be warned !!!!!

He's tanned, rested, and ready to reawaken.

1. That memo is ten years old.
Reminds me of a word list I saw when I was working for the worst creeps in the world: bond salesmen squeezing money out of old ladies.

Creepy fake language is a dead giveaway for manipulators.

3. The point is, it works. The Rethugs are still using language to screw us.

2. maybe he'll be the new FCC head - where else could bush put him?
I don't know what political office Gingrich would run for...something that is coming up in 2006...

bush could certainly place him in some visible, powerful position - Gingrich has been on Rumsfeld's (whatever the correct name is) Defense Board as an appointee for some time now, but that has been as a kind of shadow man - we haven't heard much from or about him.

Regarding Gingrich's memos, can't we organize enough to foil this kind of language play - it is sooo blatant and idiotic. Can't we have a memo or a simple handbook to refer to?
