I figured out their plan for Dean...They're going to portray him
as insane. Why not...it worked last time. Their plan is right out of the history books....

"I said, 'Before you change your mind, I accept, unqualifiedly.'" (July 14, 1972)

On July 14, 1972, Senator George S. McGovern of South Dakota, the leading Democratic presidential candidate, tapped Senator Thomas Eagleton of Missouri to be his running mate. Controversy soon arose when it was revealed that Eagleton had been hospitalized for nervous exhaustion three times during the 1960s and had twice received electric shock therapy as a treatment for depression. Eagleton confirmed the reports, and McGovern defended his running mate, saying, "I'm behind him 1,000 percent." However, just a few days later, McGovern changed his mind and asked Eagleton to step down under pressure from party leaders and the press. In August, R. Sargent Shriver, former head of the Peace Corps, succeeded Eagleton as the Democratic vice presidential candidate. McGovern was widely criticized for his handling of the Eagleton affair, which seemed to expose him as disloyal and indecisive. On November 7, Richard M. Nixon was reelected president by a landslide. Eagleton continued to serve in the U.S. Senate until 1987.

8. Uh huh
And do a google search on "George W. Bush" and "AWOL" and you get 26,200 hits.

Are "they" setting up Bush to appear like a draft dodger?

(by the way, most of the stories mentioning both Howard Dean and mentally unstable don't say that Howard Dean IS mentally unstable)

3. I agree
Which is why it annoys me that I see so many posts taking Dean to task for showing conflicting emotion, for being human. Dean has been willing to stick his neck out for the Democratic Party, and has taken a lot of lumps for asking the questions that need to be asked. Lets not pull a Wellstone memorial here. Kerry spews platitudes, Edwards is cautious--lets not play the Dean is wacko game here, like they will on Fox. The Democratic Party and the democratic people of this country need to show a better example than to be carping at every perceived misstep of these candidates. Eyes on the prize...

4. Who is "they?"
And how come "they" are managing to fool everyone but Deans hardest core supporters? Do Dean's people have some special immunity from "them" that the rest of us don't have?
