Photos of Bush money scandal in church
Have you seen this video yet? It appears there was a bit of a scandal when the Bush family went to church with the Cheney's yesterday. Here's a link to a video of the whole incident: (you'll have to put up with an internet commercial)

http://www.nbc4.tv/news/4117225/detail.html

You see, there is a tradition in this country. At church, they pass a collection plate, and parishoners put money into the plate. People that go to church regularly know that. Those that go infrequently, often get caught "empty handed" when the moment of truth arrives. Such was the case when W attended church services yesterday:

The day at church began well enough, with the President enjoying a good chuckle with friends

Quickly, things went downhill as "the guy with the shiny bowl" came into eyesight. W, being no dummy, realized what the shiny bowl was for. A feeling of panic set in. This photo looks an awful lot like the scene from Fahrenheit 911 when W first learns of the al Qaeda attack.

Realizing that a situation was at hand, W's handlers quickly snapped into action. Team member Cheney instantly produced a dollar bill, and stealthily slipped it to Pickles, the First Accomplice.

Notice how Pickles deftly grabs the bill and passes it on, seemingly unobserved.

Look closely at Pickles ladies & gentlemen. Note that Pickles is looking AWAY from the action with that, "I'm not interested at all" look on her face. You poker players will know that her look means, "I'm loaded, and I've GOT THE NUTS".

As W takes the buck from the first accomplice, she flashes him that "We've just gotten away with another one" smile.

W, still being no dummy, realized that they may be on film, so he jocularly handed the buck back to Cheney, while Pickles took her cue and laughed her best Stepford-laugh. "Hey! I have nothing to hide", the President seemed to say as he handed the dollar back to Cheney.

"I don't need your charity. My dad's here for that", declared the President as his daddy handed him a dollar. Note again that Pickles realized the dollar bill was about to hover noticeably in the air, so she actually reached for it first, in an attempt to hide it. Watch the video again, and follow her every move. She is NOT an honest person, and this video proves it.

Cheney then took the collection plate from Pickles, slipped in his own buck, handed the bowl to Pickles Cheney, and both had a good laugh.

You can almost read the Cheney's minds in the last photos.

"What a cruel joke we're playing on the American people", Mary seems to be saying. "Big time", says Dick.

I understand him not carrying a wallet but wouldn't he know to have some cash that day. A donation check made out just like other Christian's. Doesn't he have minders to deal with that (and open zippers)?

No, the nervous little * was giggling about it.

54. Jesus kicked a little ass on the money changers
http://www.keyway.ca/htm2000/20000315.htm

The money changers profited greatly from the exchange rates that they charged worshipers for shekels to pay the priests, and then from the priests to convert it back into Roman money - they were "cashing in" from both ends. They also profited exorbitantly from loans that they made - with interest rates up to 300 per cent. While there is nothing wrong with capitalism, or providing a useful and convenient banking service, these particular "bankers" were greedy profiteers who cared nothing about using God's Temple, and His worshipers, as a means to get rich.

It was the sight of this Temple "market" that triggered the only recorded incident in the human lifetime of Jesus Christ in which He reacted in a violent manner toward anyone -

"And they came to Jerusalem. And He entered the Temple and began to drive out those who sold and those who bought in the Temple, and He overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons; and He would not allow any one to carry anything through the Temple. And He taught, and said to them, "Is it not written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations'? But you have made it a den of robbers." (Mark 11:15-17 RSV)

10. I take an entirely different view of this
You know how the weecowboy admin puts out this spin about how the White House is a tightly knit, super-efficient machine? Everyone has their job, they do it well, in lockstep, every t crossed, every I dotted???

Well, someone FUCKED UP. BIG TIME. When boyking got the brief sheet of the day's events, there should have been a note next to this event which specified type of dress, time of departure, ENVELOPE IN THE POCKET....and so on. This is BASIC, ELEMENTARY, BEGINNER protocol procedure. SOMEONE FUCKED UP. Either the note never appeared on the brief, or the guy who dresses the idiot didn't read the brief sheet, or the guy with the box full of petty cash wasn't on his game, and didn't hand over the envelope to the guy who dresses bozo, and he didn't push the issue. Pathetic.

And if they can fuck up on something as small as this, they can fuck up big things, too...like, say, wars in the middle east.

I do agree that anyone who goes to a church service where they will be televised, who doesn't bring a few bucks to toss in the basket, is a fucking ninny. But someone fell down on the job. And it wasn't a "rocket science" type decision. I'm sure the plate-passing was part of the brief. These events are always scripted to the max.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

...he was just too glib, and too stupid. And he said his mentor on the Born Again trail was Billy Graham (and we've heard HIS ever-so HATEFUL TAPES in the Oval Office with Dick Nixon--hardly a true Christian, that man!).

My point is that if Protocol in the White House is running on shaky rails, it is an indicator that the rest of the weecowboy machine may be in need of a major wrench bending or full overhaul. It may be the first small proof that they are every bit as incompetent as we know them to be.

51. You absolutely have that right.
First it is clear that the Chimp, as has been true his whole life, has nothing of value to offer. His stupidity makes it necessary for people to cover for him and here they all are together. Mummy Dearest, Poppy, Unca Dick and Aunt Lynn. This time its his old Uncle Dick who spies the danger to his dimwitted charge and attempts to cover for him. But Dick is getting older and clumsier and he gets seen trying to make a cheap fix. For a moment they are all seen as the grifters and con-men they really are. They have nothing to give. This phony piousness is like the phony war on terror. It is just a cover for what they are really up to and they can't even be bothered to make it look real.

And the cheapness rankles. You telling me Unca Dickie didn't have more than a buck in his wallet? Of course he did. Just like we could have outfitted our troops with enough armor and spent what was needed to do it right. Just as he has in real life, the Dauphin and his handlers almost can't be bothered to try and fake a little humility or sincerity. It's a big joke, like his riffs about looking for WMD under his lectern. Bush hands the buck back to Laura and is going to try and gut it out.

But he can't even be trusted to handle a decision this small. And then we see who is really behind and in charge of Junior. Daddy sees it all and knows his retarded progeny is incapable of getting through a church service without looking like a blundering boob. So when his father passes him the buck, Bush has to take it. He can't refuse Daddy, especially when he knows Mommy is looking on. Mommy might take a strap to him later. The adults around him clearly treat him like a child and he responds by acting like a naughty ten year old as he snatches the bill and flings it like a hot turd into the basket. He can't even do that with dignity. Even his daughters seem embarassed by this blundering charade.

The only people who put a dollar bill into the collection plate are children and visitors. Members will write a check so it will be credited to their pledge and so they wil have a record of it for taxes. And a lot of people just mail in contributions periodically and never bother with the plate.

20. Here's the response they'll come up with:
Jr. knew all along that his daddy was going to bring "that special" $20 bill that was once owned by Prescott Bush, for Jr. to give away on this special occasion. The only reason Jr. gave Cheney back his bill, was because it wasn't the "special" $20 bill.

http://www.tnr.com/doc.mhtml?pt=vKO1twmWG2Uvnyi2qoWQfW%3D%3D
What most--including many of the president's fiercest supporters--don't know, however, is that Bush doesn't go to church. Sure, when he weekends at Camp David, Bush spends Sunday morning with the compound's chaplain. And, every so often, he drops in on the little Episcopal church across Lafayette Park from the White House. But the president who has staked much of his domestic agenda on the argument that religious communities hold the key to solving social problems doesn't belong to a congregation.

If they didn't put anything into the plate, one might assume they are writing a check later or something. But no, a dollar. Prominently waved around for the cameras while everyone grins like fools.

Oh, well, I guess we're lucky the Cheneys and the Bushes didn't empty the plate into their pockets like they have the U. S. Treasury.

40. As a feminist (and I know this sounds petty) I didn't like seeing
the "ladies" not put something in the plate. I know, I know "HE gives for the family," but isn't that just the issue. HE, as head of the family, handles the money, gives the donation, instead of both adults making a contribution. SHE is passive, an onlooker, a bystander. I know it's petty (small and symbolic), but I think it is one of myriad of ways that patriarchy is slipping (has slipped? did it ever leave?) back into style. Apologies to those who think this is petty. Flame away.
