5. A rightwinger called in
and Malloy was being pretty good. Asked the guy if he was in the army, and the guy said he used to be. Malloy asked him why he wasn't over there now kicking some Iraqi ass. And then the guy told Malloy he should be over there. M. said that he wanted peace, and is antiwar, so why should he go fight. Then the rightwinger started going off about hitler, and said something about didn't Hitler attack America. Malloy just blew a fuse and called him a name, and told them to cut the caller.

caller: Did you know ANSWER is funded by the Communist Party?

Mike: Where'd you get that crap?

caller: It's common knowledge

Mike: That's the problem with you freepers, you don't give a specific source. Give me a specific source, or move on to your next topic!

caller: Well, OK, my next topic is...

Mike: <Chuckle>

http://homepage.mac.com/benburch/Malloy.html

Might I suggest under - "New! Smaller-sized files!"

check out "Brother Sky Blue"

He's calling in when Rush's drug habit was exposed back before AAR.

Mike does the intro to BSB by reading a post from Freerepublic in another file named:

2. Rehab Rush Meets Brother Sky Blue, TRT 10:31

Mike's the best. LOL.

one newbie-ite to another - welcome.

14. Freeper logic (sic)
Here's the point I think the freep was trying to make?

The Germans didn't attack Pearl Harbor but we went to war against them 'cause they were in the axis of evil that attacked Pearl Harbor = equal to = Iraq didn't bomb the Trade Towers but we went to war against them 'cause they are in the axis of evil that attacked the Trade Towers.

So, you don't really have to do the deed, you just have to be in the cabal that might have wanted to do it or supports it.

See? Geeze, these guys sure are programmed.

15. that caller forgets that...
Edited on Sat Jan-22-05 01:24 AM by sympa
hitler was damn close to being in control of most of europe by the time we got involved and if hitler's regime was going to control europe, then we knew to get involved because we didn't want him coming after us. not to mention we were standing up and fighting with people who were actually UNDER ATTACK everyday from the nazis.

saddam invaded kuwait in the early nineties, didn't even get to finish the job he started and then was militarily castrated by Gulf War.
fast forward to 2003;
saddam is completely powerless outside of his country (and not even in control of all of that)
his country is locked down from all sides including the sky
he's not even a threat to his neighbors
and we still go after him

he was not hitler, no matter how much that guy thought he was

anyway, we didn't get involved in WW2 to help stop the genocide (i hate to say it) but to protect our allies interests and our interests (and because germany declared war on us, thanks zen democrat) the end result was good (ending the mass murders and the daily bombings and halting the hitler hate machine) but our original intent wasn't stopping the genocide.

so anyway, his point was ill informed and moot.

:eyes:

edited for accuracy and completeness)

16. We went to war against them because they declared war on the US.
There's this big disinformation campaign going on about declaring war in WWII. The United States was attached by Japan and Japan declared war against the US. The US declared war on Japan in retaliation. Germany declared war on the US -- because Germany had a mutual defense treaty with Japan.

Some people are thinking that the US unilaterally declared war against Germany, and this is a justification for going into Iraq. It's just a big lie.

20. Actually, the US Congress declared war on
Japan on December 8, 1941. Remember FDR: "December 7th, 1941, a date that will live in infamy". Germany declared war on the US on December 10-11, 1941. I'm not sure of the exact date but I do know it was within a week, as did Italy.

The only time in our history that the US declared war against Germany was in April, 1917 and the US President was Woodrow Wilson.

BTW Wilson won re-election in 1916 by saying that he would keep America out of foreign wars.

Remember GWB in 2000 and his comments about "nation-building".

Remember the old saying: "History repeats itself".

Well, welcome to the repetition.
