So, Washington Times wants Sy Hersh tried for treason?
Looks like the Washington Times wants Seymour Hersh tried for treason.

Tony Blankley does the honors.

find that here:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/op-ed/tblankley.htm

Subsection (a) of that statute prohibits anyone "with ... reason to believe that it is to be used to the injury of the United States or to the advantage of a foreign nation, communicates ... to any representative, officer, agent, employee, subject, or citizen thereof, either directly or indirectly, any information relating to the national defense, shall be punished by death or by imprisonment for any term of years or for life."

I am not an expert on these federal code sections, but a common-sense reading of their language would suggest, at the least, that federal prosecutors should review the information disclosed by Mr. Hersh to determine whether or not his conduct falls within the proscribed conduct of the statute.

____

Is anyone going to mention to Mr. Blankley that his paper should be the one investigated for treason?

This quote below was also in U.S. News, March 1989. I quote it a lot but most people don't see that it HAS been done, they think there is still a way to turn away, we can't, won't and Tony's benefactor did it.

By the mid-1980s, Moon’s Unification Church had carved out a niche as an acceptable part of the American right. In one speech to his followers, Moon boasted that “without knowing it, even President Reagan is being guided by Father(Moon).” Yet, Moon also made clear that his longer-range goal was the destruction of the U.S. Constitution and America’s democratic form of government. “History will make the position of Reverend Moon clear, and his enemies, the American population and government will bow down to him.” Moon said, speaking of himself in the third person. “That is Father’s tactic, the natural subjugation of the American government and population.”

The Philippines government yesterday issued an urgent warning to Filipino women against travel to Korea on entertainment visas or for arranged marriages.
Philippine Ambassador Aladdin G. Villacorte warned women to strictly observe their government's procedures in seeking employment in Korea.

"Filipino women should also be extra wary of, if not totally avoid, applying for arranged marriages to Koreans," Villacorte said in a press release.

"Filipinos must be cautious not to fall prey to unscrupulous agents that offer Filipino women travel to Korea through marriage under the Korean Unification Church or through an E-6 or entertainer visas."

The warning comes amid increasing number of complaints being filed by Filipino women on their working conditions where some of them were enticed into marrying Korean men, only to end up in miserable working conditions in bars and clubs.

Here Tony, let me tell you who pays the way for your bullshit to enter the public discourse. Yours and Wes's, ...the "free market of ideas?" hahaha

Moon could sell the Washington Times tomorrow, it has done its job.
This paper was built and guided by Moon for a purpose. Sure he has Wes and wingeroos down there to keep things on the "right" track but it was and always will be Moon's tool.

I am the founder of (the) Washington Times. I can get all the secrets and details of your life if I want.

http://tinyurl.com/3msn5

Quoting Craig Maxim, former member who entertained Moon around the world - addressing another poster who is a current member:

I have, on several occasions, been allowed to sit in on Korean Regional Leaders meetings, and other such high level meetings Moon has lead. I watched him direct activities these companies would go in. I watched the Korean leaders ask Moon about certain purchases, etc.. and what Moon told them to do, is done. I have watched Josette Shiner come and give a full report about things the Washington Times was doing, and make sure he knew everything that was going on. And similarly, Moon would respond to her comments and make decisions based on what she told him.

Moon was supposed to have NOTHING to do with the AFC and the Times beyond being the "founder" of these organizations. I personally witnessed that this was not true. I saw the reality myself. You on the other hand, are a nobody in the UC, and so all you have is the party line, which you believe without question.

3. Here Tony Blankley makes the case for war with Iran.
And this is not just any military operation. The purpose of this operation is to protect the world from a possible nuclear attack once the fanatical Iranian Islamist regime gets its hands on a nuclear bomb. They already have missiles capable of reaching London, Paris, Berlin and Tel Aviv. They are already the world's leading terrorist-supporting state. And our military's effort to prepare to deal with this extraordinary danger is exposed to the world — while the operation is ongoing.

7. Moon BRAGS about manipulating our nation.
and HE HAS!!

finding #3 from the 1978 congressional investigation of Moon

1) The UC and numerous other religious and secular organizations headed by Sun Myung Moon constitute essentially one international organization. This organization depends heavily upon the interchangeability of its components and upon its ability to move personnel and financial assets freely across international boundaries and between businesses and nonprofit organizations.

(2) The Moon Organization attempts to achieve goals outlined by Sun Myung Moon, who has substantial control over the economic, political, and spiritual activities undertaken by the organization in pursuit of those goals.

(3) Among the goals of the Moon Organization is the establishment of a worldwide government in which the separation of church and state would be abolished and which would be governed by Moon and his followers.

(4) In pursuit of this and other goals, the Moon Organization has attempted, with varying degrees of success, to gain control over or establish business and other secular institutions in the United States and elsewhere, and has engaged in political activities in the United States. Some of these activities were undertaken to benefit the ROK Government or otherwise to influence U.S. foreign policy.

quoting Moon: In order to realize the world of peace which God desires, the following must be accomplished… With the Washington Times as Fourth, it has to take preeminence in the realm of media. With the Washington Times as the core, we are establishing preeminence in the American print media, a field of more than 1,750 American newspapers. By doing so we can include all fields of intelligence. Today we have in this area surpassed the liberal New York Times and Washington Post, and continually gaining important confidential information not only from America but also from other governments all over the world.

13. If I remember correctly, the WashTimes leaked the fact that NSA
Edited on Sat Jan-22-05 02:43 PM by EVDebs
was listening in on OBL's satellite phone calls, especially to mommie in Syria. Why'd they do dat ? (thinly veiled disclosure in "Body of Secrets" by Bamford, but didn't he get his info from WashTimes leak? Someone needs to ask).

p.410 Body of Secrets

"Bin laden uses a portable INMARSAT phone..."

"Bin laden is aware that the US can eavesdrop on his international communications, but he does not seem to care. To impress cleared visitors, NSA analysts occasionally play audiotapes of Bin laden talking to his mother ..."

I'm sure the Wash Times knows about this if they are a part of the 'cleared visitors' category. Am I correct ?

15. Blankley's a bigger whore than Armstrong Williams
Edited on Sat Jan-22-05 08:39 PM by Hardhead
And what bigger whore could possibly sit there, posing as a journalist, and call for the imprisonment of a REAL journalist! He's not fit to lick Hersh's boots! He fucking WISHES he were even ONE TENTH the fucking journalist that Sy Hersh is. What unmitigated gall.

But Blankley is nothing more than a lickspittle, a toady creature retching up filth on demand in the pay of his master. If he had the slightest sense of shame, of decency, he'd crawl away to a hole somewhere and never impersonate a journalist again. He should be hounded out of public life by every self-respecting journalist out there. If there are any left.

19. Should Anti-Bush Journalists Be Tried as "Spies"?
Well, should they? Inquiring minds.

http://www.thenewamerican.com/artman/publish/article_263.shtml

Before assuming his august post at the Washington Times, Blankley was an attorney and a top aide to disgraced former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. Thus it’s a touch disingenuous for him to affect mystification over the language of the U.S. Code. But even granting that he finds the statute in question ambiguous, there four key words that should clarify the matter: "In time of war."

Here’s another critically important legal passage whose meaning is so clear that not even Commissar Blankley can miss it: "The Congress shall have the power … to declare war." Thus states Article One, Section 8, paragraph 11 of the U.S. Constitution. It is Congress, not the president or any of his subordinates, who places our nation in a state of war. As Alexander Hamilton – hardly an advocate of minimalist executive power – put it in a 1793 essay: "It is the province and duty of the Executive to preserve to the Nation the blessings of peace. The Legislature alone can interrupt those blessings, by placing the Nation in a state of War."

Simply put, our nation is not legally at war. Congress did not declare war on Iraq, and hasn’t taken action of any kind regarding military action against Iran. The Bush administration, like Blankley, affects to find some ambiguity in the constitutional assignment of war powers, but the meaning of the language is utterly plain to honest people of even modest intelligence. ...snip.

Odd, isn’t it, that Blankley’s zeal to prosecute spies doesn’t extend to the Plame case?

Blankley’s suggestion fits perfectly into his long-established Soviet-style worldview, in which the people are accountable to the state, rather than the reverse. If what Hersh wrote is accurate – and Blankley appears to believe that it is – then trying him for espionage would tacitly recognize that the Bush administration regards the U.S. people as the enemy from whom such information must be hidden.
