A Question of Strategy....
Is it better for our side to treat * as the nothing we know he is, the insignificant and truly stupid puppet doing the bidding of his corporate and neo-con masters, or should we PRETEND as though he is in charge?

The first strategy certainly makes him look bad, and could be sold to the public if our side had Barbara Boxer's ovaries. There are many examples of him not being in charge.

On the other hand, it may be more important to tie him into all the heinous disasters his regime has created and will create by pretending that he planned it all.

1. Shrub will become increasingly irrelevant
The Republicans are at risk of backlash in many areas, including if it appears we lose the war in Iraq, if people catch on that Bush's policies place us at greater risk from terrorism, over loss of Social Security benefits, and possibly if they begin to realize the consequences of Bush's deficits. Maybe they'll even begin to realize the degree to which Bush's policies are designed to transfer the wealth of this country to a small oligarchy.

While Bush deserves to be criticized for his role, the real problem now is that these policies will be continued by others as he cannot run for reelection (despite the fictional book I'm in the midst of reading about the nightmares in Bush's 4th term). We don't want the Republicans to get off the hook by blaming the problems on Bush. While we should continue to criticize Bush, we must also extend this to all those who promote these policies, including the whole neocon movement, the Republican noise machine in the media which has supported all these follies, and to the GOP Congressional leaders.

2. What fictional book about Bush's 4th term?
It sounds interesting. Also, I agree with you 100% about not letting the neocons and their supporters get off the hook - neocons are already trying to blame the Iraq mess on Bush team's incompetence in carrying out the Iraq operation! Can't let them do this - people need to realize the whole neocon theology is garbage (and they should have listened to Scowcroft when he tried to stop them by pointing out the impracticality and stupidity of invading Iraq).

The book is America 2014, a sequel to 1984.

3. I agree
We have to prove the policies wrong. Then we can tie Jeb to those policies in 2008.
