Iran Says Any U.S. Attack Would Be Big Mistake
<snip>

"We think the chance (of a U.S. military attack) is very low unless someone wants to make a major strategic mistake," Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told a weekly news conference.

Snip>

They couldn't be any less candid without saying "try it". Oh boy.

1. What would Blair's excuse be for supporting the US then?
He'd be driven out of 10 Downing Street by angry mobs.

Would half of America wake from its stupor after we bomb Iran? I say no. At this point, Bush could demand the American people greet him with a stiff-armed salute, and the RWers would still be in awe of their "born again" pResident.

Britain 'argues against Iran attack'

From correspondents in London 23-Jan-05

FOREIGN Secretary Jack Straw has reportedly drawn up Britain's case against a military strike on Iran amid fears US President George W. Bush may seek support for a new conflict.

Mr Straw had produced a 200-page dossier that ruled out military action and made the case for a "negotiated solution" to thwart Iran's suspected ambition to produce nuclear weapons, The Sunday Times said.

It said a peaceful solution led by Britain, France and Germany was "in the best interests of Iran and the international community", while referring to "safeguarding Iran's right to the peaceful use of nuclear technology". The dossier, entitled Iran's Nuclear Program, was quietly issued in the House of Commons on the eve of Mr Bush's inauguration last week for fear of provoking a public rift with Washington, the newspaper said.

However, it added that privately tensions were running high between the two nations.

4. A 9/11 type attack engineered and carried out by the US
in GB or France but made to look like it came from Iran will be the method of choice for the bush bastards.

5. Thinking about this for sometime....
If they want to frame Iran in order to start a conflict, I think the place where it will most likely to happen will be in Iraq. They can ratchet up the hostilities between the borders. Accuse Iran of supporting terrorist operating in Iraq. THen something will happen. A "small" nuke explosion, a chemical attack or something will happen in an Iraqi city (expandable people die) and the blame will be on Iran. The proximity of Iran to the "attack" will be hard to over look or their "fingerprints" will be all over the aftermath of the attack or some other trumped up evidence will be used. Then the Iraqi puppet regeime will officially ask uncle Bush for help to fight terror from Iran. A solid case for a counter attack since Iran "attacked" first.
