Powder, packages frighten Oldsmar

Deputies are searching for a man suspected of spreading chaos with flour or baking soda and fake grenades Friday.

David Vice, 41, a father of four, is wanted on at least two felony charges.


OLDSMAR - First a neighborhood was terrorized. Then the whole town.

It began with a letter in the homeowner association president's mailbox about 8:15 a.m.

"BOOM. Wait until Sunday. You haven't seen anything yet," said the letter, in an envelope filled with white powder.

Then came a series of alarming calls that sent authorities scrambling across Oldsmar all day: a suspicious package at a nearby car rental company, a possible explosive device in a room at the Holiday Inn Express, a reported hand grenade attached to a mailbox at an Oldsmar post office.

"It was total chaos," said Oldsmar Mayor Jerry Beverland.

He was charged with fleeing and eluding a police officer and later received probation. Excuse me, he got probation???

I guess he's lucky he doesn't have brown skin, otherwise he'd have been sent to Gitmo.

I doubt Ridge would see the importance of the story; there isn't much that duct tape can do to help. See,this is exactly why Kerik would have been such a splendid choice for Homeland Security. Kerik could have made this announcement with a straight face!

I know this isn't supposed to be funny and probably isn't funny to the people he terrorized, but baking soda and flour?

And, who were the people he was terrorizing? It would be interesting to see. I'm guessing he's some rightwing gun and/or religious nut and his victims were Democrats of some nature (brown skinned or women or known war protesters or something he would have identified as "Democrat" whether they are are not).
