Poll question: Poll: For people who did not vote for Clark in a DU 2008 presidential poll
Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 12:01 AM by Clarkie1
There is a general belief among many that the only reason Clark does well in 2008 Presidential preference polls at DU is because links are being left at outside Clark oriented sites asking people to come to DU to vote for Clark. A poll has been posted to help answer that question.

Now, there is no need to feel left out if you didn't vote for Clark. To answer the question of whether the time the average Clark supporter who voted in a 2008 presidential poll has been a DU member is different or the same as the time an a DUer who did not vote for Clark has been a DU member, there needs to be a comparison between how long Clark supporters who voted for Clark have been DU members, and how long those who voted for others have been DU members.

I agree there is too much of these polls. I have not posted the presidental preference polls myself, but I intend to make an active effort to post topics that advance our causes, and polls that serve a function here and now. I post this merely to help clarify what the presidential polls that have been taken here at DU really mean, because there seemed to be a lot of interest in them.

The questions in this poll are only being asked to those who are NOT voting for Clark in current DU polls regarding 2008 Presidential choices, but ARE voting for another choice or "other" in these polls. They are ask how long you have been a member of DU. Because people can lie in selecting an answer, I am also asking those who vote in THIS poll to also make a written post confirming your vote. That way it will be obvious that these results are valid since everyone can check the date any member joined DU via their profile if they are so motivated.

Remember, everyone here was once a DU member for less than a week, so don't feel shy about that if it is the truth.

1. What of importance do you hope to learn with this poll?
Are you wondering how successful DU is in promoting a culture of conformity?
I seriously wish we could get away from picking presidential candidates for an election four years away and instead focus on what the Democratic party needs to do to improve its organization, develop it's core philosophy, and articulate the language that best communicates our ideas. At the present, these are far more crucial steps than prematurely choosing a presidential candidate. We have party building to do. That is far more difficult than building cults of personality, but it is fundamental to regaining power.

2. I agree with your sediments

Just trying to end this controversy so we can move on. A lot of people participated in the presidential polls, although I never posted one myself. I'm hoping this poll will help provide some sort of closure on the topic for the time being.

3. ok, I've resolved to stop voting in them
It's getting to the point where it's ridiculous. We will have a different array of choices in 2008 anyway.

4. How would this poll (or Tom's) answer that question?
And is there anything special about 18 months? It's just a fact that Clarkies post links on other sites to these polls. It used to be that people could vote in DU polls without registering (even temporarily banned people could vote); now people follow the links, register, and vote.

It's common knowledge around here.

As a matter of fact, there's a link to Tom's new poll at the Clark blog now:

6. You are too funny!
So you mean that when Tom posted a thread here asking Clarkies to come and tell how long they had been at DU....and to indicated via a poll....That my going to the DU Wesley Clark supporter Forum and saying "roll call" and linking to that poll was a sin?

Merci me....Had I known, I wouldn't have done it. So Clarkies that may check The Clark DU forum more often than the GD forum are not DUers? Damn, I didn't know that.

Did you find a link to the other poll on the Wesley Clark DU Forum? You know, The Presidential poll that started this sad jealous sorry mess? Let me know. K?

Thanks for your great investigating work, Janx. What would we do without you?

Did you check to see what was happening at the Kerry Forum, so that you could report on them too?:

Did you all see this poll?

Sorry if you did already--I was away from home since Friday morning. But it's exciting--Kerry in a landslide with DU voters.

"We need to start making some friends on this planet" John Kerry

What about posting in a DU FORUM to invite others to read a thread....is that against your law too? Cause Edwards' Forum is committing that sin! But is that Ok, is my question. Cause I don't know anymore.

Edwards fought tooth and nail against Kerry concession.

This is what Mark Crispin Miller said on the Laura Flanders Show this evening...

and here's another one

Exactly what is being done here that is against the Janx law of conduct at DU?

7. Roll call - calling Clarkies to disclose
Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 01:24 AM by robbedvoter
I don't need to be defensive for getting people to answer what actually amounts to a poll amoung DU Clarkies - a revelation of information to you, the non- Clarkie DU-ers..
And since you are trying to make something of it, here's a thread from a DU group that is actually against the DU rules::
